When I was vegi, it used to be nut roast, or lentil roast, I'd like to do something a bit different for some friends, and don't want to trawl the usual sites. I thought with the food obsessed ones who haunt here, someone may have a half decent idea. Nothing containing bacon please.

My mum once did me a really nice mixed mushroom fricassee thing on puff pastry, that also went with the trimmings. Or something like pithivier - you could do that with any filling, butternut squash and goats cheese or blue cheese and pine nuts maybe?

It's not fucking Christmas yet.
It'll be Christmas in about 3 weeks and I'll be marginally more accepting of it then than I am now.

I like meat *and* nut roast
not least because both have euphemisms for male rude bits in them
