NO FINANCIAL CHAT!!
Do any of you collect things? Or are you a secret hoarder?
Let B3ta know your strange commodities.

Alt. Apparently the Vatican are training more priests to perform exorcisms, which led me to this article...
www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/video-emerges-of-pope-francis-reportedly-performing-an-exorcism-in-st-peters-square-8624934.html
What's happening here eh?

AltAlt. Evening plans?

I was going to watch the Celeb Big Bro fake eviction thingy, but I don't really care about any of them this time round.

i have 17 cameras
I don't collect them on purpose, I just NEED them. Same with books (I've never counted them...lots I guess)

altalt: college

I've been collecting 70s lenses for my new camera.
The photos they take are ten times better than the kit lens.
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:23, Reply)
what camera did you get?

(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:26, Reply)
Pentax K30
I had an old M 50mm lens on my Dad's old ME that still fit and the colours were leagues above the kit lens on the K30, so I got a 28mm, a 135mm and a 35-70mm zoom from the same series.
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:32, Reply)
cool
now make your pictures interesting. There are too many people doing dull 'isn't this sunset nice' photos these days
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:34, Reply)
^photography snob

(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:37, Reply)
damn right
any headline that says 'stunning picture of...' is likely to be an average picture of something which is fairly interesting, or they've just used HDR on it or fucked with the curves in photoshop - *yawn* whatever
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:38, Reply)
mr b3th studied photography for six years back in the 70s.
His portraits are stunning. That's one thing I can't do, though - I like to take pictures of 'things'. I don't know if that's to do with innate lack of skill, or just because I haven't learned the right techniques.
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:41, Reply)
photography isn't all innate skill and magic techniques
it's about looking at the world differently, about imagination and artistry and things. Also, practise - I remember you did that photo a day thing and you were getting much better
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:43, Reply)
Portraits are fun
I've got a couple of the missus that I'm pretty happy with. Shallow depth of field, nice lighting etc.

It helps that she's not a pig, of course.
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:43, Reply)
Although I've got a photo of an actual pig that I like better than the portraits of her, to be fair.

(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:45, Reply)
I take pictures that I like to take.
People that don't think they're worthy enough can get fucked, frankly. No offence.
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:42, Reply)
i respect that approach
I'm just fed up of people bigging up dull photography these days
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:43, Reply)
Cookery books.

(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:23, Reply)
I collect Sagittarius mugs.
I've got about 60 different ones so far. I've also got a collection of those silicone ice cube things in various shapes.

Yeah, I'm a terrible hoarder. Im trying to get rid of a bunch of crap this year, as I'd really like to claim the house back from the 'stuff'.

AltAlt: Meh. I might clean the kitchen. That's how exciting my life is.
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:29, Reply)
I don't actually think I collect anything.
I'm pretty bad for dvd's. Got hundreds! Keep taking some to CEX every now and then and exchanging for a voucher to buy yet more dvds
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:32, Reply)
I have a collection of shot glasses from places I've been.
It started as a bit of a joke when I was 20, now I have tons of the things and my parents have started getting me one from places they've been, too.

I've probably got fifty of the fuckers.
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:34, Reply)
my friend kept buying her brother snowglobes
so now he accidentally has a collection
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:35, Reply)
At least with shotglasses I could have a decent party

(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:46, Reply)
Cut the the snowglobes in half and make them snow goblets

(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:47, Reply)
Swipe has finally got her own TV show
www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b007clvk
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:35, Reply)
My favourite of all the animals.
If it was legal I'd have a pet one.
(an orang utan, not a Swipe)
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:43, Reply)
I got a bit of a thing for tech, especially ones that connect to other things.
I'm waiting for a man to come around and install my www.tado.com , and I just bought a www.smokio.com . I bought, sold and think i'll buy again a www.getpebble.com until Apple's one comes out at the end of the year.
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:36, Reply)
If they make one that will chuck another log on my woodburner
let me know.
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:44, Reply)
I donno man, you don't get many of those in first-floor flats in a city. I'll keep an eye out tho'

(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 18:10, Reply)
That heating thing looks good.
Mind I just have mine off when I'm not in and set to come on just before I'm back.
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:46, Reply)
It should save me more than it cost, came to about £90 for the year all-in-all.
They have free installation but i'm getting my bathroom done up so i'll just use that fella when he nips 'round.
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 18:10, Reply)
I'll give you one thing Geordie lad,
if we all put as much effort into our OP'ing this place wouldn't be dying on it's arse.

I don't deliberately hoard but can't be tidy to save my life.
Have to have a boy-toy for every job, including jobs that don't need doing.
Cooking tea shortly (dim-sum and the like) then crash with a glass or two of Pinotage in front of the box.
Thanks for asking.
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:40, Reply)
Wey ta.
I like to think I put a bit of thought into it.
The general consensus is to have a bit of banter and arguing though.

Most people are on here to pass the time at work (myself included), though I am going to try and get to a b4ysh this year to put some faces to the names!
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:44, Reply)
That's a scary prospect. Go armed.

(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:45, Reply)
Nah, they will be pussycat's in real life.

(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:46, Reply)
I been to some bayshes from another site and
I was amazed that everyone was exactly like I thought they'd be.
Hope that's not the case here lol.
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:50, Reply)
I'm pretty much the same.
Hopefully less "thick and uncultured"
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:52, Reply)
I very much doubt it.

(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:54, Reply)
You'd love me really.

(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:58, Reply)
What about the 'upset and a woofter' bit?

(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 18:36, Reply)
Which one are you again?

(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 18:41, Reply)

"Have to have a boy-toy for every job, including jobs that don't need doing."

I concur. Though not in the same way!
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:45, Reply)
OMG I'm blushing now!

(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:46, Reply)
Maybe in the same way then!

(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 17:47, Reply)
The internet has imploded with that Mark Duggan inquest
This seems to be an unbiased account of what went on.
www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/mark-duggan-inquest-was-he-really-armed-were-the-police-under-threat-all-the-key-evidence-9046789.html

Seems to me that an officer panicked. Don't think anyone needed to die that day.
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 18:12, Reply)
Wouldn't supprise me if we see another Civil Disturbance.
I live about 5 minutes from Enfield Town Centre which got hit hard in the riots, but that was before I moved here.
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 19:14, Reply)
Is Civil Disturbance a PC way of saying "scumbags rioting and looting because they think they have an excuse"

(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 19:19, Reply)
I do need a new telly...

(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 19:23, Reply)

He met him on a Monday and his heart stood still...

(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 19:28, Reply)
lolz

(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 19:28, Reply)
Are you insinuating that white folk don't riot?
I suppose it's not football related...
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 19:28, Reply)
I'd be so embarassed if I got stitched up for looting in JD Sports.
Seriously, who the fuck goes off on the knick and walks out with a £4.99 hoody.
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 19:34, Reply)
yes

(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 19:23, Reply)
Thought so
We don't have much call for looting round here what with not having electricity and running water.
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 19:24, Reply)
a 12 pack of AAA and a well doesn't count.

(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 19:29, Reply)
I looted a well once but when I got it back to my place there wasn't any water or coins in it.

(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 19:32, Reply)

Just a vengeful Japanese spirit.
(, Wed 8 Jan 2014, 19:35, Reply)
