I got in to a stupid argument with a guy at work the other day.
I said, movie is a shit non word and that the correct word is film. I backed this up with the fact that my spell checker says movie is incorrect and that its a shit Americanism.

So tell me I'm wrong. Is movie acceptable? or should it always be film.

FILM ALWAYS
And the cinema is just that, not the movies, the pictures, or the flicks

I occasionally say the pictures. My dad used to call them that, I guess I picked it up off him.
Whenever I say it though, I usually have to explain what I mean.
