Smoking will kill you early basically. It's a fucking horrendous habit.
Subjecting your kids to it is bad. Really, really bad. My parents smoked lkke chimneys, car trips were a nightmare. If you have to do it, do it locked away in a sealed room somewhere please
(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:11, 1 reply, 11 years ago)
as will drinking
as will eating red meat...

come on doc, I agree that smoking increases your risk of certain cancers etc. However I would counter argue that living in a densely populated city does as much damage to your lungs and you wouldn't say to everyone not to live in London etc.
(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:14, Reply)
I think a smoker living in the Lake District would be more at risk than a non-smoker living in London

(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:19, Reply)
yeah but I look cool

(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:32, Reply)
This may be true
BUT I DONT WANT YOU TO DIE!
(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:33, Reply)
I do

(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:36, Reply)
Fair enough

(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:37, Reply)
Overall if you are prone to cancers then you will get them
Smoking merely increases this risk,

I don't want to worry you all but:

NON SMOKERS DIE EVERYDAY.

I get to have one of those cool electronic voice doodads before I go. What do you get?
(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:38, Reply)
This is the sound of denial

(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:42, Reply)
now imagine that in a dalek voice
COOOoooolll
(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:43, Reply)
Just don't inflict it on others.

(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:42, Reply)
Would you stand over a BBQ doc?

(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:43, Reply)
20 times a day? Possibly not

(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:44, Reply)
You inhale more
carcinogens standing over a bbq than you would of over 2 weeks in a fully smoke filled room
(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:47, Reply)
Citation needed for this utter bullshit

(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:52, Reply)
citation from an actual published peer reviewd paper
not a blog
(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:52, Reply)
Not wikipedia then?

(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:54, Reply)
The National Institute of Health, Dept. of Health and Human Services
Look it up yourself you idle cunt
(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:54, Reply)
I will also give you this

Jury is still out
(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:57, Reply)
no, I said actual citation, not a report by a newspaper based on a press release from a research company with no other evidence at all.

(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:59, Reply)
Oh well done, okay it's a published fact that using internet forums with teh username containing the "bonzo" and "dog" means you have a micropenis
don't believe me? look it up yourself.
(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:58, Reply)
Cool...
Have done...

Its true.

Come on Al you argue better than this,
(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 10:01, Reply)
You havne't produced a single piece of evidence to argue against yet, just mindless comments

(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 10:03, Reply)
As opposed to?

(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 10:04, Reply)
Soz, but burden of proof is on the person making the claim.
Namely that grilling sausages is as dangerous as living for two weeks in a fag smoke filled room.
(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 10:08, Reply)
ok
web.sls.hw.ac.uk/teaching/derek_j/mol_tox/reading/mutagens/files/Mutation%20research.pdf
(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 10:16, Reply)
Right, I'm not a scientist and I'll admit to only scan-reading that
But I'm pretty sure that doesn't say what you said
(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 10:21, Reply)
its research into
HCA's and mutagens.

I am not a scientist either so don't have access to the papers and wouldn't know where to start looking but its a start
(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 10:47, Reply)
Oh come on, I'm mostly on your side here
But this is arse gravy
(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:56, Reply)
See above^
It is easy to use the facts that support the bits of an argument you want.

BBQ smoke has been added to the list of cancer causing things, and yet secondhand smoke has, so far, shown no statistically evidence...

Its all horseshit
(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:59, Reply)
how long do you ahve to stand over this imaginary BBQ before you get the greater exposure you talk about?
What fuel does this BBQ burn? Is this on a still day or a windy day?

I'm not saying your talking shit about something you have no evidence for ... no, I am saying that.
(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 10:02, Reply)
Its the smoke from the meat,

(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 10:05, Reply)
A couple of times a year yes.40 times a day, in the car, no.
Where the hell is B3th? She should be backing me up here.
(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:53, Reply)
She's too busy helping people to quit smoking.
And doling out methadone scripts
(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:57, Reply)
Well no. However is drawing nicotine, tar and all the other shite into your lungs necessary? Do you enjoy addiction?
Do you enjoy paying fuck knows how much a week to maintain an antisocial, smelly, lifethratening habit? Seriously mate, it's crap.
(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:22, Reply)
Smokers stink and they don't even know the filthy beggars

(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:24, Reply)
Clubs smell much worse now.

(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 9:42, Reply)
I haven't been to a club since the ban came in.
To be fair, the only time I used to go to them was when I was either plastered or high, so I can't imagine I'd notice.
