alright lokesy
What whisky have you got at the moment?
(, Mon 3 Mar 2014, 9:18, Reply)
Not much, need to restock
Speyburn, and some Glenmorangie.

Fathers day imminent though so will be dropping hints.

Got a bottle of Benriach at the moment.
Dunno what your gourmet palate thinks of that, but I reckon it's alright.
(, Mon 3 Mar 2014, 9:46, Reply)
I think I've had it and didn't rate it.
Perfectly fine as an entry level malt though, no shame in that.

If you'd jumped in with Glenfiddich then I'd be all sneery.

I like Speysides, apparently.
Dunno what that means, aside fromt he fact that Speyside is near Glasgow somewhere.
(, Mon 3 Mar 2014, 9:50, Reply)
it means lighter, sweeter malts
Islay malts are the peaty ones. If you like speyside ones then you'll like Japanese ones, such as Yamazaki and Hibiki.

Glenfiddich's dishwater then, is it?
I assumed that, like wine, supermarkets don't carry terribly good stock.
(, Mon 3 Mar 2014, 9:57, Reply)
it's just dull
No depth to the flavour and not a pleasant finish. Supermarkets are ok for whisky, most stock balvenie and auchentoshan, but your best bet is a specialist off licence. There's one in Leeds called Latitude which is pretty good.

In London the Whisky Exchange has a shop in Vinopolis - in Southwark

I recommend Bunananananahabhain
for getting monstrously trashed on a Sunday night.
(, Mon 3 Mar 2014, 10:03, Reply)
how is that pronounced?

(, Mon 3 Mar 2014, 10:16, Reply)
"Son-dae"

(, Mon 3 Mar 2014, 10:16, Reply)
Boonaveen, at a guess.

(, Mon 3 Mar 2014, 10:17, Reply)
"that"

(, Mon 3 Mar 2014, 10:17, Reply)
I've been going with "banana bane"

(, Mon 3 Mar 2014, 10:27, Reply)
Bu-na-ha-venn
apparently
(, Mon 3 Mar 2014, 10:35, Reply)
is it alright?
Sweet, peaty or balanced?
(, Mon 3 Mar 2014, 10:37, Reply)
Not one I've sampled as yet.
