Tuesday Morning
In a hot, wet Hong Kong with me sitting in my supercool (not because the office is cool but because I've got the aircon cranked right down to the minimum - 30 degrees outside, 12 degrees in my office) office.

No ranting today you'll be pleased to hear, other than the slightly wry smile on hearing of the injury to Liu Xiang in the Birds Nest stadium. Obviously, there's the fear of what the Chinese authorities will do to him - but if he disappears in the style of a Soviet athlete who'd failed to perform in the Olympics, remember - you heard it hear first.

Sinister? Not at all, I'm just saying ...

Anyway.

In the interests of making today go as swimmingly as possible (did I mention that I'm flying home Friday?) please add your comments below.

PS: what's wrong with this picture, see if you can work it out?

(, Tue 19 Aug 2008, 10:01, Reply)
That was quick, Al!
Well done Lucy, all the best with the rest of the interview stuff!

I've been with the same dentist for ages, and there's a dental nurse there who's about my age, been there since she was a trainee.

She likes me, a lot, it's a bit odd.
On the whole I've been spectacularly unsucessful with women (present situation excluded), but every time I go to the dentists, she compliments my clothes, asks me if I'm single and flirts massively.

Very odd.

EDIT: And my sister went there last Thursday, and the nurse asked after me...
(, Tue 19 Aug 2008, 10:02, Reply)
@LvP
Any tricky questions?
(, Tue 19 Aug 2008, 10:02, Reply)
:)
Kaol - you're lucky, she sounds nicer than mine. I had a filling replaced this week and when I was trying to get out of the chair both the dentist and assistant just watched me try to walk out with the tissue thing covered in dribbly blood still hanging around my neck. It's not a good look!
Ed - It was a group interview but I'm revising my facts and figures today for the individual one. I'm actually more excited than nervous!
Thanks DiT!
(, Tue 19 Aug 2008, 10:04, Reply)
@LvP
Excited is good! I'm too old and too much of a cynic to be excited by job interviews any more but I'll be excited on your behalf, if that's OK?

B) Get some early tomorrow from my crappy hometown which might not actually have any.

There may be some kind of accent issue at work here; yours being some kind of German derivation whereas mine is much more like Shakespeares English.

I think I meant r and b covered in Yorkie chocolate. However, a double whammy of Yorkie sounds like a most pleasant way of making oneself ill enough to be sent home to recover.

My accent exists anywhere between fairly posh, cockney geezer and Cornish maid, depending on who I'm with and how mashed I am.

Baz, you're neither a cunt nor an idiot, thought I'm sure you know this

I'm only buzzin' lads
I sound like a less exasperated Father Ted or Dylan Moran after a glass of wine or three.

Hello peoples
It's been a very slow day today.
*sighs*

oh well, only an hour and a half left until home time!
(, Tue 19 Aug 2008, 15:06, Reply)
Agreed
Today could win an award for being the longest day ever in my humble opinion. And then this afternoon and evening is going to be a crazy rush to get through this interview, get home and pack AND still have time to watch Secret Millionaire.

I've been flirting with the the Russian and Polish builders
and ordering the Columbian moving men around. I am now rather dusty and in need of a beer.
(, Tue 19 Aug 2008, 15:11, Reply)
Honestly, I feel like a restless child on christmas eve.
Only one more sleep!
(, Tue 19 Aug 2008, 15:12, Reply)
Me too!
Although I have a feeling I shall be having words with mr vp before tomorrow, he gets quite militant about his festivals and I'm much more easy going so he tells me off quite a lot then I get kranky.
I'm looking forward to a beer outside my tent tomorrow!

*climbs down lustys chimney*
Oh, sorry, I thought you mentioned Christmas.

Shall I deposit the contents of my sack here, or shall I save it for another 4 months?
(, Tue 19 Aug 2008, 15:18, Reply)
We need the Crazed Kaol
with one of his outrageous questions.
(, Tue 19 Aug 2008, 15:19, Reply)
No Clendrix!
No more beer for you. I will not have more scurrilous and unfounded accusations made against my person.

Afternoon all, today has been rubbish but I did manage to get a free copy of War On Terror: The Boardgame at lunchtime so it's not all bad.
(, Tue 19 Aug 2008, 15:23, Reply)
@DiT
empty your sack now if you like. It might be fit to burst in another 4months!

@al I am muchly looking forward to seeing QOTSA, Dizzee, The Wombats (honestly once I got over the fact that they're a shit indie band I started to quite like them) Santogold, pendulum, crystal castles, holy fuck, gallows, alkaline trio and umm those are the only ones I can remember at the moment.
(, Tue 19 Aug 2008, 15:27, Reply)
*empties sack liberally and with abandon*
QOTSA should be very very good and I am jealous.

Is the rumour I hear that Tenacious D are playing true, d'you think?
(, Tue 19 Aug 2008, 15:31, Reply)
Wookiee
you say 'no more beer' now, but just wait til I'm back from holiday and mentioning the pub. You'll be there, allowing me to get the beers in. I know your weakness.

edit: Tenacious D! What? Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck! *sulks*
edit: I look forward to playing that boardgame Wookiee - bring it to the pub. Wheely Man might want to join in.

DiT
I think they're playing just before Metallica on the main stage. I didn't think they'd be the high on the bill.
I think I might see them. But urgh I want to stamp on Jack Black's face until blood seeps out of his ears.
(, Tue 19 Aug 2008, 15:35, Reply)
Jack Black!
I don't like him as much as in his early days, but he does still make me laugh.
(, Tue 19 Aug 2008, 15:36, Reply)
Why's that, O wandering lustface?
I quite like his comedic stylings. Especially in Orange County, but that film owns anyway.
(, Tue 19 Aug 2008, 15:38, Reply)
I don't think he's funny anymore.
I used to, but now he just seems a little to big for his boots.
Swaggering along with his kickable face and his arrogance that makes me want to rip open his chest and wee on his lungs.

That might sound a little harsh. meh.
(, Tue 19 Aug 2008, 15:40, Reply)
Harsh, maybe...
But it wouldn't do if we were all the same, would it? :)

*beams*

*also hopes Lusty doesn't go off me so I don't get my lungs wee'd on*
(, Tue 19 Aug 2008, 15:42, Reply)
Wee on his lungs, eh?
Still the kinky lass I love.
*squeezes lusty's bum*
(, Tue 19 Aug 2008, 15:43, Reply)
i cant stand Jack Black
He is uber smug. what a git. I could never watch Tenacious D perform because the noise of my teeth grinding in irritation would drown out his wailing.
ha.
I'm off for my interview in 10 minutes. I'm nervous. yuk. :s
(, Tue 19 Aug 2008, 15:45, Reply)
@DiT
I would never wee on you. Well, unless you asked nicely.

*pinches clendrix's bum*

*giggles*

I've packed my biscuits to take to Reading so I can have a cuppa and a hobnob at some point. so i'm focusing on that rather than why i want to work in the healthcare sector. might not be the best tactic but it works for me!

@Lusty
While I'm away on holiday, someone else might use my office. I wonder what she will make of my cheese-adorned Alan Rickman? I wonder if she will comment?
(, Tue 19 Aug 2008, 15:49, Reply)
clendrix
She'll probably have a little jealous cry and wish she had her own cheese covered Alan Rickman and that she was cool like you!
(, Tue 19 Aug 2008, 15:51, Reply)
Lusty
Yay!
I shall miss him while I'm gone.

(, Tue 19 Aug 2008, 15:53, Reply)
No Al i'm not
So put it away please.
Thank you.
It's for an international market research role for a healthcare company.
