So farewell then Maria Miller
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-26951464
Should she have gone sooner?
Is there anything left to respect about our politicians any more?
Perhaps you think she got a rough deal?

Alt: (and I suspect this will interest more of you) Best soup?

Of course she should have gone sooner
it's been hilarious watching Cameron continue to get every decision about this matter spectacularly wrong.

I really hope this does him the damage he deserves
I suspect most voters are too apathetic for this to change much, but it's another nail in his coffin for grass roots tories.

if we're honest the original expenses scandal was across parties
to get caught up in it again, was pretty stupid
(, Wed 9 Apr 2014, 11:44, Reply)
when were hand wringers ever honest?
it's all about everyone else, with a nice little personal agenda right underneath it
(, Wed 9 Apr 2014, 11:45, Reply)
Indeed, it was a cross-party committee who decided she shouldn't have to pay it all back

(, Wed 9 Apr 2014, 11:46, Reply)
Politics/democracy is fundamentally self serving and that infects their entire way of thinking

(, Wed 9 Apr 2014, 11:47, Reply)
Or alternatively honest, hard-working constituency MPs aren't particularly newsworthy.
I hate all that lazy "They're all the same" rhetoric
(, Wed 9 Apr 2014, 12:05, Reply)
YEAH! MORE MONEY FOR PLEBS! FUCK THOSE WHO WORK HARD!

(, Wed 9 Apr 2014, 11:44, Reply)
I vote for this policy.

I'm not sure I understand what point you are trying to make here

soup isn't food
She's an idiot, why they can't understand that fiddling expenses is wrong regardless of whether it's within the rules I will never understand
(, Wed 9 Apr 2014, 11:42, Reply)
Still at least she can now focus on being a constituency MP
Oh and continue to draw from the same expenses pot she was fiddling.
(, Wed 9 Apr 2014, 11:45, Reply)

(, Wed 9 Apr 2014, 11:44, Reply)
Best soup is Heinz tomato - everyone knows that.
Politicians are all scum. Seriously. There isn't anyone left in parliament who isn't in it entirely for the jollies.

It was fun watching all the worthy liberals as Clegg slowly exposed what he was really about, though.
(, Wed 9 Apr 2014, 11:45, Reply)
it's far too sweet for my tastes

(, Wed 9 Apr 2014, 11:46, Reply)
I'd call it a lot of things - vaguely democratic, immensely fiscally beneficial for those involved, and a closed boys' club, but sweet?
LOL!
(, Wed 9 Apr 2014, 12:01, Reply)
did you see Kim Jong Un executed someone with a flame thrower
how would you execute someone and who would it be?

Ask this, it's better

Dun

(, Wed 9 Apr 2014, 11:51, Reply)
She was accused, found guilty by an independent body,
then found less guilty by a self regulatory body of her peers.
We will never know the truth because our self regulating bodies don't have to tell us the detail of what they found.
Power without transparency will always be liable to corruption but so far we are still allowing it.
