This is a question Off Topic

Are you a QOTWer? Do you want to start a thread that isn't a direct answer to the current QOTW? Then this place, gentle poster, is your friend.

So I've come home to find that there has been no HSH thread today
Has this new reply system completely killed Off Topic?

Please tell me it's not true.

(, Mon 15 Sep 2008, 18:27, 133 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
It's not dead
There have been a few threads that have attracted a fair number of replies. I suspect that if this new reply system stays around this really will be /talk for people that don't like /talk.
(, Mon 15 Sep 2008, 18:30, Reply)
No Mrs Bin
Some of us are around.
I've just been gazzing like a madman, venting sadness and frustration and feel a lot better:)
(, Mon 15 Sep 2008, 18:30, Reply)
I looked at the espresso thread
and found that there were alot more replies that there seemed to be due to the stupid reply button thing.

I know I wrong to be pissed off by this but this was a change that was asked for by /talk people who don't like us.

*sulks*
(, Mon 15 Sep 2008, 18:39, Reply)
Sorry.
I was also asking for this format. I didn't know it would be so unpopular.

I still prefer it over the old format, but maybe that's because I used to hang out on /board before the QOTW took off.
(, Mon 15 Sep 2008, 18:48, Reply)
It's a bit odd
this new format. Difficult to keep track of.

Miggyman's thread was the default thread for chatting today, but he didn't put up a sign.

Anyway, good evening all. Including muddy people!
(, Mon 15 Sep 2008, 18:39, Reply)
Evening
everyone.
Today's been difficult for me and various friends so thanks to everyone for the support this morning.

Evening all
*staggers in*

Is this the right place yeah?

HELP - how do I make the reply thingy work? It keeps asking "Who am I talking to". Shouting at it doesn't seem to work!

Hey TWW

Hang on, have they changed the format again?
Where's all the rply buttons gone?

Oooh, found the proper reply button
thank dog for that.

Hi al *steps around little puddle*

Hi BK, hlt.

Edit: Yes, BK - they seem to be on a mission to keep us dazed and confused. Or more than normal.
(, Mon 15 Sep 2008, 19:09, Reply)
the reply button wasn't there just now
and i got all worried for a bit

how are we all?
edit - I'm guessing the mods have succumbed to pressure and are reverting to the one big reply button so we stay linear!

It's gone
hurrah.

Thank you magic donkey

AND A REPLY BUTTON AT THE BOTTOM!
(, Mon 15 Sep 2008, 19:11, Reply)
Hi hlt
yes, it disappeared altogether, naughty little button!

I'm good, how are you?
(, Mon 15 Sep 2008, 19:11, Reply)
Hello all!
Did they change the format and add a reply button at the bottom? Or is that just me being all funny.

Edit: Looks that way. Ohhhhh aren't the mods lovely! And we didn't even have to sacrifice a kitten! :D

Oh, they've fixed the one at the bottom now.
first time I tried it was not so good. "Who are you talking to" it demanded, and yelling at it didn't work!

Clever, clever, mods.

It's looking pretty bad over this side of the pond as well. I work in the financial sector and over the last six months we've seen our long term job prospects waver a little.

Several big HQs here have already started laying off staff. I may not like my job, but by cracky I need it!

edit: al, I resent your use of the word "cunt" in reference to our Chancellor. After all, one of them can give immense pleasure - and it's not the one in Downing Street!

I'm a coward
when it comes to tunnels, so you wouldn't catch me in one that length!

Also, many many years ago, an ex soldier told me that the UK end has hidden explosives so if need be it can be closed rather quickly. Probably a load of shite, but you never know ....

Oh, I do love a good urban myth.

Mind you, I'm not over keen on boats either.

What's this aboot urban myths, then? You mean like we should all be starting to grow our vegetables? ;)

Yes, we're facing a global recession. Yes, things are (to use a technical term), fucked. And yes, there's some very tough times ahead, but maybe we should keep a little perspective. This has happened before!

I am worried, and don't mean to sound blase, but there it is. Panic never helped anyone!

I had a tip top weekend though, and I won the shooting!

the live one fucking ruled, the others are good enough songs, but the production isn't great. drums are too loud, bass is too quiet, but that was the case with some of their old stuff too

a pinkish tinge to the sausage will be fine. at worst you'll have a bit of a burble. I suggest pouring beer on it.

Night Mrs Bin and Mr Kaol
I just want to take a moment to say thank you very much to the mods. Yes, some people seemed to like the new format, but a whole lot didn't. The mods then seemed to see what we thought about it, what we wanted instead, and gave us it.

Thank you many times.
