It's Saturday, but I'm going to set this thread up anyway.
Are you at work? Or are you all acidic and hungover? Still in your pj's? Did you have a strange dream in which one of your toenails had fallen off? Or have you woken up in a strange bed? Do you wish it was still 1998 so you could watch SM:TV and drool over Cat Deeley of a Saturday morning?
Never mind. This thread's here instead.

I've got one of those mild hangovers that make you frown
on the plus side, there should be some surf for a late afternoon session, and I did pretty well at poker last night.
all my hours of watching it on tv are beginning to pay off (pay off in a way that involves beating my mates but not actually winning any money)

for breakfast? I thought I was rock'n'roll by only having coffee and fags and not my usual bran flakes and a banana. Not there's anything remotely rock'n'roll about coffee. Or the fact I spelt it rock'n'roll.

You don't want a shotgun
you want a knife - make it more personal! The look on their face as you slide it between their ribs :P
Glad you're having a good day though Becky!

I awakened in a strange bed!
Damndest thing, really- I had the oddest dream that I was crammed into an aluminum can for hours, moving at great speeds with a load of others, then brought from a funny building through lots of strange surroundings and sheep to a house. And when I woke up, I was not in my own bed!
Oh, hang on- I'm at BGB's house now. That explains it.
(This is the Resident Loon, btw.)

not bad at all.
I slept part of the time at least. BGB was there to get me, which was the best part.
I may be a little scarce here, but I'll check in...

Not much mate
not much at all. I finish work in about half an hour so it's of to the pub for me I think. Not drank in two weeks so a pint is long over due.
What did you see? I've always wanted to go but never got round to it.

Some sea documentary with Kate WInslet and Johnny Depp narrating. It was interesting. I recommend doing IMAX at least once. It's certainly an experience.

I woke up
with a hangover.
Boyfriend had to tell me what happened after we left the pub last night.
I vaguely remember going for pizza, but apparently I asked some kids hanging outside if they were gang members!

Yet another weekend on, so have been in today and tomorrow and Monday and now have to go to the scrappy to get a part for the better half's car.
Still, have Bombardier and shepherds pie so it can't be entirely bad. Hope all is well with all.

I'm sitting on the sofa, enjoying one of my many bottles of wine while writing an evaluation on the gearbox of a Bentley Continental GT.
I've got a suspicion that the report won't make much sense by the end...

Why, Rubberduck,
is there call for anyone to write an evaluation of the Bentley Continental Gearbox?

Unfortunately
I write software that controls engines and gearboxes for a couple of UK-based car manufacturers.
The best bit is that I get to 'evaluate' lots of fast cars by caning the nuts off them around a track. All in the name of science of course.
The only downside is having to write these reports...

It's the best way
The last car we released, I wrote most of the gearbox logic one night under the influence of Talisker.
The result? Excerpt from Top Gear magazine:
The six-speed automatic transmission is mighty in the *nice car*. Yes, it's used by other makes, including BMW, but *the company that rubberduck works for* gets the utmost from it. Hit the chequered flag switch on the console, which puts the car into dynamic mode, see the gear numbers flash up on the TV screen between the dials, and that gearbox will do precisely as you ask. It won't change into second gear at 100mph - there is a limit - but it's so far ahead of the other gearboxes here it's frightening.
Obviously, alcohol is the way forward...

Well Rubberduck
Apart from hating you a little bit every time you mention your job, I think that you should let me come down and cane some fast cars round a track. In the name of science.
I think it's good to get an outsiders perspective sometimes.

It's
honestly less fun than you'd think. Dare I say it, but it's a little... boring sometimes.
Driving fast doesn't *feel* fast around a track. It's much more fun ripping along the Fosse Way within legal speed limits than it is going around a relatively straight, flat track at 150+mph.
