Roll up roll up
Well I'm having a night in as I want to be on the road at 3:30 tonight. What are you doing with your evening?

(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 19:16, 67 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
Foiled again
You beat me to uploading HSH by 2 minutes.

Got a selection of ales to usher me through the evening and I Am Legend on DVD while will probably end in me bitching that "It's not as good as the book".
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 19:21, Reply)
I'm in bed
for a chill out with laptop and DVDs.
I don't plan to get out of bed tomorrow except for essentials.
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 19:29, Reply)
Right
Time to fumble about in the dark changing the bulb in my car.
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 19:37, Reply)
Well...
I'm busy playing with my new toys - I've had my shiny new large TV and blu-ray player delivered today.

Only thanks to me being the fail-master, I've neglected to buy any blu-ray discs. *spang*

Methinks I need to go shopping in the morning.
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 19:40, Reply)
Oh dear
Does your blu ray player not play DVDs? At least then you can play with it a little bit.
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 19:41, Reply)
I'm waiting for
my friend. Yes, yes it's true. I do have friends

Lies! There is no world outside of the intarwebs!
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 19:45, Reply)
I know it sounds really sad...
...but I was desperate to go playing with a HD source for it, so I spent a good half hour this afternoon gawping at the BBC HD preview loop through Freesat HD.

I'm kind of desperate to see a blu-ray disc on it though - there's another 360 lines on a blu-ray picture than BBC HD.

We can sit on each other ;)

evening
I'm copying some stuff to usb for a mate and then heading out for an evening of debauchery.

(warning: actual evening may involve sitting at my mates house drinking beer, smoking joints and playing cards)
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 19:53, Reply)
I know...
Now I've got the TV set up, I've been casting my gaze at the Mission 7.1 speaker setup I've got in a box and haven't unpacked yet.

I just KNOW it's going to take me an entire weekend to install - that's how long it took last time.

Then I can host a high-def, Dolby Digital wine evening :)

(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 20:00, Reply)
Well I've written down my directions
Going to be spending a lot of time on the M6 tomorrow!
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 20:09, Reply)
Why are you having to leave so early
Captain V? I hope there's a very good reason for getting up so early on a Saturday
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 20:22, Reply)
So that I can get to Edinburgh for 9:30ish
Go round the castle then head down to Cardiff to see friends there and pop in to Warwick on the way.

Before you say it; yes I know I'm mad.
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 20:26, Reply)
That's one hell of an agenda
I wish you God speed and minimal traffic - My advice is shit loads of audio books on your MP3 player and it'll not seem so bad.
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 20:37, Reply)
Evening
I'm guessing that most of the regulars have lives and are out on a Friday night... However, copious wine and salmon are the order of the evening in the collective sweary household. That, and we're desperately trying to save up - a small matter of nuptuals next year, y' know.

Speaking of which, I've just booked our accommodation for our mini-honeymoon-coinciding-with-the-Edinburgh-bash-next-April. Woo!
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 20:39, Reply)
Good luck Captain
You'll need it :)

The M6 from the Thelwall Viaduct all the way down to Birmingham is completely unpredictable nightmare, and you will grind to a halt at some point along there. I just hope it's not for too long!
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 20:40, Reply)
Thanks for the good luck wishes
Hopefully the trip up should be trouble free because of the ungodly hour. Back down again is where I expect I might run into trouble.

Suppose I should look into alternatives to M6 as by the sounds of it that's where I'm most likely to hit trouble.
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 20:44, Reply)
The reason the M6 is busy
is that the alternatives are even worse :)

There's cheeky little diversions you can make in some areas when there's localised holdups. E.g for problems near Manchester, drop onto the A50 and pop back out on the M6 at Stoke, but in most instances you're best off sitting it out.
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 20:49, Reply)
In that case
I'll not bother even thinking about alternative routes. M6 here I come!
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 21:19, Reply)
Right,
Seeing as the pool of lovely people has diminished by many several I'm wondering what topics of deviance shall make themselves known this fine evening.
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 21:34, Reply)
Evening all
Any one still here?

If you've got the pennies I recommend the M6 toll road. Mmmmm lovely.
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 21:42, Reply)
I'm still here
Hopefully I'll have enough change for it when I get there.

You having a good evening Mrs Bin?
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 21:47, Reply)
Still about
sort of. On to third glass of wine. Wine's a good decongestant, you know...

I'm struggling to think of any stories this week. Or perhaps, I just don't want to admit on teh interweb what an utter dweeb I was when younger ;-)

No, it's the former...
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 21:52, Reply)
I'm very sleepy
Captain V. Thank you for asking.
It's Friday, that means hotdog and chips for tea and clean sheets on the bed.
That's about how exciting my life gets.
Mr Bin has downloaded Wipeout HD for the PS3 so he's just sat here swearing while I talk to you guys.
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 21:56, Reply)
Hey Davros!
In light of the the fact your honeymoon will coincide with the Edinburgh Bash, I rearranged my New Zealand holiday so that I can come up to Scotland. Not missing that!

You feeling any better?
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 22:02, Reply)
Much better
ta, clendrix. Still a bit chesty, but it's amazing what sleeping for nearly two days will achieve when one is a tad under the weather.

I'm not one of these 'heroes' that will struggle into work with a cold, infect everyone else and then take 2 weeks to recover properly myself. Oh no. I learned that a loooong time ago...
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 22:05, Reply)
What a sensible chap.
I agree and besides colds are weird things - so common we don't feel we can moan, but actually capable of really making us feel like shit.
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 22:10, Reply)
Absolutely
I long since learned - struggle into work with a cold, it'll take a week at least to disappear. Take a couple of days off - sorted.

I fucking hate people that labour under the delusion that the office will fall apart if they don't go in 'just because they have a cold'. Because, like, they're so important and shit? My boss 'struggled' in with flu a few months back. Result - one totally decimated section for about four weeks as everyone succumbed to the lurgy one by one, putting the whole programme back by about double that length.
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 22:15, Reply)
I swear this is the reason
people phone in with 'flu rather than a cold.
Taking time off for a cold just sounds so lame, like phoning in sick with period pains.
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 22:17, Reply)
Yes
and what's more, I can't understand those people not wanting to at least feel they can make most of feeling crap by having a couple of days under the duvet watching films and sleeping. Freaks!
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 22:17, Reply)
Well I'm off for a few hours shut eye
Night all.
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 22:21, Reply)
Evening all!
Who's still around?
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 22:33, Reply)
Achtung!
I'm still about.

I've hit upon a question this evening: How long would it take you to trawl through amateur porn site to come across someone you know*?

*Both ways if you're that way inclined.
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 22:36, Reply)
oh hello
I'm on the 125 mile commute home and yet again we appear to be stuck in Swindon. Today the one of the new staff members recognised my b3ta t-shirt, so hello 'M', if you're reading this- if you keep schtum about me then I'll keep schtum about you.

Tomorrow is MOT day. Arse. I don't fail things and I will be mightily upset if my new shitheap does.

Evening all
Just finished watching the first three episodes of Fringe, which was enjoyable. It seems to be a cross between X Files and Lost, but then it is another J J Abrams production. The 50" plasma and surround sound added to the joyousness of the evening.
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 22:43, Reply)
That's a long old
commute CHCB.
And to be stuck in Swindon! I'd sue.
It could be worse though, could be Slough.

Come friendly bombs and fall on Slough,
There isn't grass to graze a cow,
It isn't fit for humans now,
Swarm over death.

@ Swan Vesta
I was wondering exactly the same thing yesterday after thinking I saw someone I recognised on a popular Flash video based porn site, not that I frequent such places of course. Turned out not to be them (although I did have to turn the volume up on a bit where they were talking to make sure!)

I read a funny story on teh internet somewhere (maybe even here) about a guy that didn't know his sister was in pornos until he downloaded one... could've been bullshit though.

Back to the original question, I am doing absolutely fucking nothing tonight due to enforced unemployment/skintness/singledom/living in a shit rural area with nothing to do again. Joy.

And my new phone's buggered already after approx 4 weeks, nice. I swear phones are so much less reliable than they used to be!

The single good thing in my day seems to be the new Roots Manuva album which I'm currently listening to for the first time., Rather good, anyone else on it? (I am a bit late I know, but I've only recently come out of a big phase of listening to no music recorded after 1972)

Sam (who isn't in a very good mood)

Ahh, Betjeman
I think you have the 2nd and 3rd line in the wrong order, but my memory only extends to the first stanza.

Swindon's only advantage over Slough
is the Magic Roundabout

Hello everyone who said hi
I forgot to refresh and missed all your hellos!
@ Sam-I-am, I remember that one too, was quite true! Can't find any mention of it though, searching google for "sister porn" doesn't bring up handy results.

Evening Lab!
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 22:49, Reply)
Evening himjim :)
Oh, and googling for 'sister porn' does not look good if your computers get seized ;)
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 22:51, Reply)
Oh yes Lab
I see you are correct.
I am half asleep though in my defence.
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 22:53, Reply)
Yeah my gut feeling was that it was true
Either that or well written enough to make it worth reading!

I will use my Jedi web searching skills to see if I can find it. My computer has special self destruction features in cases of impending seizure so I should be alright.

That's ok, I'm a bit tipsy, but somehow managed to remember A Level English.

Sam-i-am: Good luck with that ;)
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 22:56, Reply)
@Sam I am
I remember a similar tale so I don't think it's BS. Bearing in mind some of the wretched cum guzzling, sperm hungry slatterns* I went to school with I'm amazed that I've not seen their wizened visages splattered across my tft before now.

* Read, they never let me fuck them so therefore I look down upon them later in life.

I've just Googled
the rest of the poem.

I'd forgotten how good it was.
I'll refrain from posting it as it is rather long and if you wish to read it, well you are online.

Digg members seem cynical as to its veracity
digg.com/movies/My_sister_is_a_pornstar

Also a free bonus similar story from Marie Claire www.marieclaire.com/life/sex/advice/secret-life-porn-star

Why am I spending my Friday night searching the internet for stories about people finding their relatives in pornos?!!?!111
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 22:58, Reply)
Oh dear God
If that's true, that guy must have gone through all kinds of emotional turmoil/hell!

On a related note
I once saw a porn video, amateur job, whilst at work (as part of my job). The lady in the video looked AMAZINGLY like an acquaintance of mine. Double, and indeed Treble Takes occurred.

Of course, I jokingly told this girl, and she said that she's also seen it, and that I'm not the first person to point out the fact that there's video grot of her stunt double on the net. I'm not sure whether to believe her or not, she is teh filth.
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 23:02, Reply)
Urgh, I tried to read the thread
And it reminded me how, well, awful Something Awful is
(, Fri 26 Sep 2008, 23:04, Reply)
That's quite a good defence actually
Instead of straight denial (less likely to be believed)

'Oh yeah, someone's already told me about my porn star doppelganger, quite entertaining!'

*thinks: dodged a bullet there eh?*

On the subject of sunny Slough, anyone else been watching fly on the wall documentary Road Wars on Sky 1/2/3 recently?

Thames Valley Police ELITE SPECIAL PROACTIVE UNITS on patrol in Slough. Made hilariously watchable by the way they absolutely throw the book at everyone, they'd better be jobsworth cunts cos they're being filmed. And the two of them that give amazing David Brent style lectures to the criminals full of unnecessarily long words (I love it when cops do this)

Has given me teh fear of going to Slough though...

I dunno
I'd be tempted to crack one off to my half sister .... Erm. Ahh.
