I would guess it has far more to do with cutbacks in mental health services than any terrist stuff.
Ever since "care in the community" which was a thinly veiled excuse for shutting down most of the care homes to save some money the number of crimes committed by people with mental illness has gone up and up. Jo Cox was the most recent high profile one, but the media chose to link it to Brexit despite the guy clearly having long term mental health issues. Until we invest in proper treatment for such people there will be more of the same.
