I'm off
too see Coldplay tonight and I dont give a fuck what everyone thinks. Its FANTASTIC to be old enough to not give a shit what people think of my tastes. Its the very essence of freedom. I also dont care what people think about my dancing. I dance like my dad and I love it. Young people are shit!

So come on haters, tell me what you think of Coldplay and test my resolve.

It always seems
to sound like music to slit your wrists to, personally.

Very depressing.
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 15:55, Reply)
Whiney, repetitive
hippie shite.
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 15:55, Reply)
Never found it depressing.
I dont think Radiohead is depressing either. Always thought that people who said that, arent really music fans.

Repetitive? Really? Most music has an element of repetition.
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 15:58, Reply)
But alot of Coldplay songs
are one chord repeated for thirty seconds, then another chord for thirty seconds, and then back again. I would agree that many other bands and kinds of music can be repetitive, but other than techno, none of them are quite as boring musically as Coldplay.

I've never really liked Radiohead either, I prefer music with a little more flair and passion behind it.
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 16:00, Reply)
they are bland
and what's worse they are hugely overhyped

they aren't a terrible band by any means, but neither are they that good, which is why they shouldn't be raved about as they have been.

Not as guilty as U2 though who haven't done anything good for a million years, are all tossers, and still get called the best band in the world.

despite being shit
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 16:01, Reply)
they're good
but they're no Same Difference
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 16:03, Reply)
I'm seeing Prodigy tonight`
And I make no apologies for it. Smack my bitch up!!
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 16:04, Reply)
I liked the first album - I even saw them live
but then they just took the popular parts of that album and remade it again and again...

EDIT: Radiohead are streets ahead of Coldplay - nothing miserable about it but then I find The Smiths utterly jubilant.
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 16:04, Reply)
Only cunts like Coldplay.
FACT
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 16:05, Reply)
I like Coldplay.

(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 16:05, Reply)
THat's a lie
and you know it.
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 16:09, Reply)
The best thing about them is their laser shows.

(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 16:11, Reply)
The best thing about them
is having you at their shows.
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 16:25, Reply)
With you there, baz
First album: Ooh, cor, shiny new, slightly different, liked it.

Then they released the same thing over and over again, and Snow Patrol came along, and now everybody with a guitar seems to like playing songs with barely more than a couple of chords in repetition.
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 16:05, Reply)
i'm going on sunday!
and i KNOW it's at the 02 this time. wembley my arse.

i used to hate them, but i really like the new album, and my friend got tickets, so meh. have fun!!

ps: as i am going to chas and fucking dave the night before (family xmas present), it can only be good by comparison!
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 16:05, Reply)
@bert
as an Irishman, I humbly apologise for Snow Patrol.

Vipros, same goes for recent U2 output - appalling!
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 16:08, Reply)
Oi! Ms Swipe.
I went to Chas & Dave through choice last year and they are brilliant.

I bet you have more fun there than at Coldplay.

Gertcha.
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 16:09, Reply)
I thought Snow Patrol were Liverpudlian?
Are they Irish? I can't really complain about them though, 'Run' was the second thing I ever learned to play on the guitar, and my Mrs loves it.
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 16:10, Reply)
But what does
she think of you're ability to play "run" on the guitar? That's what I'm really interested in
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 16:11, Reply)
@Bert
they're Irish (northern) and Scottish.
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 16:12, Reply)
al
She thinks it's shit, because frankly I am.

I'm only a beginner, but even I know that that song is quite easy to play.

Here, have the tab music for the floaty bit in the middle, play this on the third string from the bottom:

9-9-9-9-7-7-7-7-slide-5-5-5-5-4-4-4-4 repeat times three

@baz Really? I wonder why I thought they were scousers?
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 16:13, Reply)
@swipe & scarpe
I saw C&D at Glastonbury last year, fucking fantastic!
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 16:14, Reply)
far worse than all the bands mentioned so far
are Scouting for Girls.

they should be mutilated whilst still alive and forced to eat bits of each other.

fucking drivel.

*throws hands up in disgust*

I've seen so many unsigned bands that urinate all over bands like scouting for girls, snow patrol, coldplay and their ilk and it sickens me.
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 16:18, Reply)
It's all about Apply the Brakes.

(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 16:22, Reply)

(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 16:23, Reply)
NO
Vipros, you are wrong.

The motherfuckinggrannyrapingarsefaceshittingcockbollockingwankbiscuittrolloptwat Killers are the single worst band ever to defile music.

Fuck you, The Killers, you're shit.

I can tell you don't like them bert
let this soothe your earholes

have checked them out. not bad. not too fond of the guy's voice though.

You must be human then,
as opposed to dancer obviously.
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 16:22, Reply)

"I also dont care what people think about my dancing. I dance like my dad and I love it."

I approve wholeheartedly of these very sensible sentiments. That is all
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 16:27, Reply)
@Vipros
your music needs percussion and brass in my oh-so-fucking-humble-opinion :)

Have you got 'There's A Riot Going On' by Sly and The Family Stone in your collection?
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 16:40, Reply)
The first album was great.
I tolerated the second album for a couple of good tracks.

Then they disappeared up their own arses and their music went from being quite sublime to fetid cock-gravy.

And Chris Martin. What a smug prick.
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 16:43, Reply)
Coldplay
are alright, wouldn't go out of my way to listen or not listen to them, but would not be phased if they all died in a comical but nasty way

U2 however can die of everything
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 16:52, Reply)
He sings like he's crying while his voice is breaking.
Also shit lyrics.
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 17:18, Reply)
Good music for parents and the hopelessly middle class to listen to
Then again, what can I say? I listen to the Beautiful South FFS...
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 17:30, Reply)
1st album fantastic.
2nd album ok

3rd album bluergh

Seems to go the way of a lot of bands.
(, Fri 12 Dec 2008, 19:29, Reply)
I want to
come round your house, wee on your CD collection, put your ipod in the microwave, cut off your ears, stick on my ears temporarily and let you hear things like I hear them. Trust me you will never listen to snivelling whiney bland overrated shallow clap-trap like this ever again.

Obviously I might need to sedate your brain to prevent it turning to mush when you hear actual real music.

Unless you're joking about all this of course, in which case, haha! buy you a pint?
