 The North/South divide.
The North/South divide.I just read that the dividing line is roughly from Gloucester in the South West to Lincoln in the East - that doesn't seem right does it? My Dad used to say that the North was above Birmingham and the South below with The Midlands being a 'Golan Heights' no-mans-land and have lived by that since.
I bet a lot of people are confused about if they are a soft shandy drinking ponce or actually a pie-munching, flat-capped monkey.

It depends whether you're a Northerner or Southerner
It depends whether you're a Northerner or SouthernerIf you're a Southerner, anywhere north of the Watford Gap is up north.
If you're of the ale-drinking persuasion, then anywhere south of about Sheffield is down south.
In conclusion, everyone thinks the Midlands is a shithole.

Yeah, yeaheveryone's bit of the country is so much better than everyone else's bit of the country.
Harveys Ale (brewed in my home town) is awesome and that's pretty far south east.
Mind you, I still hate Kent.

 Well...
	Well...I'm from the Saaaf-East.
It's not great.
I like the countryside, but it's boring.
I've got no particular loyalty to Essex, either way.

As a "slap bang in the middle" Midlander................
As a "slap bang in the middle" Midlander................I know that anywhere south of J1 of the M6 is soft shandy-drinking poofter territory and anywhere north of Wolverhampon is flat-cap-and-whippet-land.
Coventry is an elysian land, populated by hard-bitten yet poetic, erudite folk who will kick your face in while quoting Proust.
Well it's got me and Pooflake living here so it can't be ALL bad!
