I know you're all at church but here's a thread.

It's not yet 8am after the TGB bash and I'm up and relatively functional.
I met some more b3tans and watched Captain

i'm feeling a wee bit wobbly this morning on account of the meds i took last night for the relieving of neck pain (prolapsed disk).
ever had amitriptyline? it's great!!
and hi there vc, you snuck in whilst i was typing!!
and no sign of my homey TD yet? most probs out walking the djeukel...
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 8:02, Reply)

As looking at it, shrugging and saying, "you'll live."
I'm guessing those that stayed are curled up at the foot of TGB's bed in a big pile.
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 8:08, Reply)

let's not play bestests! i love you too but in a different way!!
TD is my homey cos we come from the same dialect region and are about the same age and can communicate in special secret ways...

When I got home I opened a bottle of Innis & Gunn but only drank half of it. Now I'm looking at a bottle of flat beer wondering if I can rescue it. :(
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 8:17, Reply)

I know you luff me cos I told you to lend me your wife for an hour or two.
Light - throw it out and get a fresh one. Best solution.
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 8:19, Reply)

if you have another bottle then simply revive the flat half with a top-up of the fresh!! should put that one in the top tips.
that stuff is too good to waste. on offer in tesco at the mo...
vc: i never actually managed to ask her if she was interested...

Well, Jade Goody's finally shuffled off this mortal coil... I still don't feel guilty for the jokes about her though.

So glad I don't read papers.

thanks for sharing that, now maybe we can get back to the real news...

And therefore what we see is what sells. And Jade Goody was something of a massive cash cow.

I'm currently catching up on Zero Punctuation which I invariably forget to watch for several months and then gorge on when I remember. 'Tis very funny.
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 8:44, Reply)

Not me.
So - onto a more cheerful topic - what's everyone eating?
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 8:55, Reply)

Not much at the moment, although I may indulge in a bacon buttie later. With lashings of ketchup, of course.
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 8:57, Reply)

I'm trying to decide if it's worth getting dressed and going to the café for a breakfast.
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 8:58, Reply)

bacon butty is folded buttered white bread containing cooked bacon. emphasis on one folded slice. if you use 2 slices of bread it becomes a sandwich.
i'm having fried haggis and black pudding with eggy bread and beans...
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 9:04, Reply)

/tries not to vomm at the thought.
Can't eat black pudding. Have tried - really have but cannot keep it down.
Haven't had haggis though. not sure I should either...
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 9:09, Reply)

but only the good stuff, otherwise it's just plain offal...
last night i made haggis pakoras, inspired by a novel by iain banks, but i can't remember which one...
they were seriously nom.
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 9:14, Reply)

you'll all be feeding me weird food when I get there.
Oh well. Gotta try it before I knock it I guess.
The black pudding vomminess for me is knowing it's made of blood.
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 9:16, Reply)

When you coming over then? Incidentally the weirdest you'll get over here is black pudding, steaking and kidney pie, or haggis. The rest is quite pedestrian. We don't go round eating dog or tying kangaroos down, sport.
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 9:18, Reply)

@vc : you can only have fresh haggis september 1st (incidentally my birthday) to april 1st cos that's open season on them. after that it'll need to be frozen. freshly shot is much better...
edit: and let's not forget the delicious Arbroath Smokey!!!
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 9:21, Reply)

Freshly shot haggis is quite nice, save for the pellets. Although you can of course catch them quite easily on flood plains.
Mind you, then again I am reliably informed that drop bears are also quite tasty.

WFF, it's a question of what hasn't been done. I've decorated her house, put her furniture together, sorted out her garden, helped her move house, and now I have to stick around for two weeks whilst she recovers from major surgery. And she has the cheek to ask for a Mother's Day present. The least she can do is get me a box of chocolates.
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 9:31, Reply)

gressingham duck, braised carrots & parsnips, savoy cabbage and roasted spudadoes.
don't know what's for pudding yet. any ideas?
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 9:32, Reply)

our mothers day is in may.
I don't eat dog thank you very much. No one in Australia does.
Skippy, emu, croc, snake, buffalo, etc are all eaten in plenty though.
EDIT: self saucing chocolate pudding always goes down well for my mum.
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 9:33, Reply)

But what about the drop bears?

Actually VC, something I've been meaning to ask. Do you think Steven Conroy is a complete and total retard?

Foreigners have to try faggots. It's the law.
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 9:37, Reply)

they all have Chlamydia. No joke.
And who is Steve Conroy??

( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 9:40, Reply)

not really breakfast material though.
Edit: Chlamydia? Bloody Ozzies will shag anything.
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 9:40, Reply)

A really good idea not to find out what they are until you've tried them.

well I have a bash already planned as happening on the calendar :D
Mainly to give myself some motivation when work is shit. All I have to do is think about that calendar note to make myself work through it.

Busy recovering from TGB's birthday.
In aid of which, I'm off down the caff to see what they're prepared to stick in a breakfast baguette for me.
I suspect they'll be quite accomodating.
Back in a bit!

I thought you meant Nov '09. Christ!
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 10:24, Reply)

I fucking wish I did mean that.
However - it does help with motivation to have something set like that - it helps me get my butt into gear. I'm going to get a second job over the summer and work days and nights for a month.
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 10:31, Reply)

When you eventually come over, if you want to visit Wales then let me know :)
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 10:34, Reply)

but - I'm seventeen - and my mum always said that if I want to do something then I have to do it myself. That means start saving now. I've been saving pretty much since mid january when I got back from new zealand.
I go to school full time and work part time. During holidays I work full time. I've been asking my mum's friends to call me up if they need a baby sitter.
I have to get out of this town as far away as I can for as long as I can and I figure twelve months in the UK is more then long enough.
EDIT: Sure will Mell. Keen to meet you and Kaol anyway so I'm sure it can be arranged. Me and my b3tan will most likely travel up at one point if possible :)
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 10:38, Reply)

gonna do when you get to the UK though? Are you going to just travel around or are you going to try and work a bit?
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 10:40, Reply)

and am staying with one b3tan for hopefully a fair chunk of it :D
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 10:44, Reply)

You can kip at mine if you fancy using my place as a base to explore the North as well.
/Edit
Actually Mell, a small favour? Could you bring some bara brith with you when you come to the Edinbash? I love the stuff but can't get it round here for somewhat obvious reasons.
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 11:06, Reply)

I'll think about it.
Would I be able to have my b3tan stay with me though?
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 11:09, Reply)

I will most certainly bring some up if I come.
I was going to travel up with some non-b3tan friends but they're busy now so I'm not sure what I'm going to do :(
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 11:09, Reply)

I suggest doing something similar. Also, put a shoutout on the main /OT board to find out who is travelling by car. They may be able to swing by to pick you up.
/Edit
You mean Halfy, right? I suppose we can bung you in the twin room. However, if you're staying for over a week a small contribution to food would be appreciated.
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 11:11, Reply)

is there no train you could catch to the edin bash?
EDIT: yes I did mean him. And that's no problem - hell I'll even cook for you if you like!
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 11:12, Reply)

I do really want to go. I don't mind driving up myself (though I'd rather travel with someone else) but I wouldn't know where to stay as I really don't want to be on my own up there.
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 11:14, Reply)

I am staying at the Castle Rock Hostel (http://www.hostelbookers.com/hostels/scotland/edinburgh/3358/) which looks very good to me. And an absolute steal at £13 for the night. Don't worry, I won't try anything on. I'm rather afraid of Kaol.
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 11:20, Reply)

I want to go, I'd rather go by car than train (and will split gas money, of course) but can't don't know where to stay, or with whom, and can't afford much either.
Me and the Fella talked about us both going but it turns out he can't now.
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 11:22, Reply)

maybe we could pick you up on the way?
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 11:26, Reply)

I just checked that link and they only have rooms left for the Saturday but are fully booked on Friday and Sunday *grumbles*
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 11:33, Reply)

Have checked my camera and there's plenty of cracking pics from last nights bash.
I'm going up to Edinburgh by myself next month but am planning on turning the trip into an epic week-long adventure which I'll no doubt be making up as I go along. I also plan to meet up with a few local b3tans for a bit of microbashing.
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 11:39, Reply)

Would you like me to try and increase my booking? I can fit five others on, I think...
Oh, I see what you mean. Male only is the only thing available. That is unbelievably gay.
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 11:41, Reply)

and if you do I will love you forever :P
I'm good for money so it doesn't matter how much it costs.
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 11:42, Reply)

( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 11:50, Reply)

come back to this later. I'm trying to multitask between this and Mother's Day stuff, and I feel my mother is not getting the best out of me :P
I checked the Castle Rock Hostel and it looks awesome, shame there's no room left :(
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 11:50, Reply)

If I can get the both of you on my booking, I will do. I'll let you know tomorrow.
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 11:52, Reply)

Look on www.hostelworld.com to find hostels in Edinburgh.
Btw. I've already got a place for the Saturday night at a different hostel but I suspect I may also want to stay on the Friday night too so will have to sort owt out.
( , Sun 22 Mar 2009, 11:53, Reply)

I've just called the Hostel, I can get both WFF and Mellicious on my booking, I will confirm tomorrow, because I have nothing on my card to book with at the moment, but I can say I do have the verbal nod to put you both on my booking, should you so choose.
Hope that helps!

No-one knows where High Wycombe really is Vamps, its a mysterious wandering town that is difficult to place.
I asked this question in my office last year and of the 11 people there nobody knew where it was.
It doesn't exist, its like Tanelorn or Avalon

My Dad used to run the farm next door and we supplied their keepers with a load of milk from some of our fresians for some of their baby animals (I think it was a Giraffe but I may be wrong).
