It's just past the tipping point
Where you're looking forward to the next weekend and no longer mourning the loss of the previous one.

Home sweet home!

Home Sweet Home

Hi!
*grumps*

I've pulled a muscle in my arm from overdoing the weights and my neighbour, (he of the folk singing), is being a twat again.

Hi Blousie
Sorry to hear about that. Do you think the muscle was pulled by overextending yourself, or was this just your normal routine?
(, Wed 25 Mar 2009, 20:09, Reply)
I think I overdid it a bit.
It's not too bad. It will be ok by morning.

You happy at your new job? All settled in?
(, Wed 25 Mar 2009, 20:11, Reply)
I was overwhelmed but not stressed.
Every time I think I'm settled in, something crops up. In January, my boss left leaving me the only person on my team. I had to be prepared to work on absolutely everything that he had done. So if I need to fix things, I have to figure it out first. Just the day after he left, I was told of problems that have cropped up. Meanwhile, a lot of the problems I'm getting are coming from other departments not using the latest version of the product I'm working on.
(, Wed 25 Mar 2009, 20:22, Reply)
He must have felt you would be able to cope to leave you like that.
I'm sure you're doing great : )
(, Wed 25 Mar 2009, 20:24, Reply)
Thanks Blousie
I think my old boss left because he was fed up with working there. But he must have felt confident I can cope.

I'm currently on top of the situation, but that's because I only just got round to discussing deadlines yesterday.

I'm actually not looking forward to the weekend.
Although I have to work all through the week, I like it better because then I don't feel like I'm being suckered into spending all my money on $6 shots and strippers, like I do at the weekend.

My legs
moreover, my thighs, are absolutely aching after my run on monday night. 1.2km after 6 months of no running.

ouchies.
Oh well, i'll go for a run tonight anyway
(, Wed 25 Mar 2009, 20:35, Reply)
Evening Kristine and VeeCee
@VC: Sorry to hear about your ouchiness. That does happen the first time you exercise after not doing anything. Next time, try a shorter run and build up each time. I also find that cycling exercises a completely different set of muscles from walking/running.
(, Wed 25 Mar 2009, 20:47, Reply)
aha I figured spakka
I've been cycling before - it makes my calves and butt seize up something dreadful but running makes me feel alive.

I'm going to actually split up my run tonight, it' 2.4 km total, so I'll walk and then run, walk then run, etc.
(, Wed 25 Mar 2009, 20:51, Reply)
Splitting the run is good
It gives you time to rest, and also gives you a chance to see if you can feel the aches creeping up.

I've only started going to the gym in the past few months, but my running endurance has noticeably improved.

Evening All
So what have I missed?
(, Wed 25 Mar 2009, 21:15, Reply)
Evenin' Frau Mülltonne
Apart from a few sports-injuries, you've not missed much.
(, Wed 25 Mar 2009, 21:25, Reply)
My sports
injury is failing to get to the gym this week.

Good evening Badgerface!
I didn't see it I'm afraid; been drinking pay-day wine and watching a very strange Japanese western. If that isn't a complete contradiction.

Evening all
Hey TGB - I turned up later to the bash so what else did you get present-wise?

I'm aware that nothing could top my present, obviously, but try to be complimentary.
(, Wed 25 Mar 2009, 22:26, Reply)
I call a moratorium on *huggles*
unless you are under 10 or you are a Beatrix Potter character.
(, Wed 25 Mar 2009, 22:30, Reply)
@ LiC
Well I reject your moratorium or my name isn't Master Tiggywinkle (aged 7).
(, Wed 25 Mar 2009, 22:34, Reply)
While it's true I lack the power to enforce my moratorium
I do have a Paddington Bear hard stare I am prepared to unleash on repeat offenders. If it makes Mr Curry turn a funny colour, imagine the effect on you.

Wooo!
*victory huggles*
(, Wed 25 Mar 2009, 22:41, Reply)
My ninja edit
completely undermines your victory. Mwuahahah!
(, Wed 25 Mar 2009, 22:44, Reply)
Ah
Bugger!

I curdle before your Paddington-stare.
(, Wed 25 Mar 2009, 22:48, Reply)
Fuck me
It's quiet tonight, innit?

Erm, I gave up going to the gym when I knackered my achilles tendon. For 'knackered' read 'ripped in a fairly major fucking way and didn't do anything for 9 months as I thought I'd just twisted my ankle'. The doc reckoned it was possibly the worst he'd seen...

So, yeah - got out of the habit and never got back into it.

Chains, I too have a Paddington type hard stare that used to freak my ex out. Which, of course, meant I used it more...
(, Wed 25 Mar 2009, 22:52, Reply)
@ Davros
Owchey!

I had something similar with cruciates in my right knee. Probably nowhere near as bad as Achilles tendons though. *shudders*

It is all quiet this evening, but I'm fairly pissed so I'm happy enough!
(, Wed 25 Mar 2009, 23:00, Reply)
Ah well
I stepped awkwardly off a kerb wearing Cuban heels... not the most glamorous way to sustain an injury! In my defence, I was massively wankered.
(, Wed 25 Mar 2009, 23:01, Reply)
Always an excellent defence
I have something wrong with my left elbow that I sustained under similar circumstances.
(, Wed 25 Mar 2009, 23:03, Reply)
@ DG
That is genius!

Mine was mundanely sport-related I believe.
In my defence I was massively wankered!

*has never played drunk rugby since*

I am a genius
when it comes to arse-handed injury!

I once split my head open in a bowling alley having tripped over a single step...

In my defence, I was a cack-footed 4 year old at the time
