Are you a QOTWer? Do you want to start a thread that isn't a direct answer to the current QOTW? Then this place, gentle poster, is your friend.

Yet again more whinging about the HSH thread. *sigh*
I'm angry dammit.

All this talk of HSH and how crap it was.

It's like going into the playground and saying I want to play but I don't want to play your game, I want all of us to play mine.

Nobody makes you join the thread and if it goes fluffy then it's because that is what it is.

It really pisses me off.

*joins your thread*
Hello, Blousie!

/fluffs you.

Because you're worth it!

Yay Cackers.
*hugs*

Because I want to and to piss of the HSH dissenters.

Guess I missed that part.
Where was this complaining going on?

*shrug* It's all the same to me- I just bumble from one conversation to the next.
(, Wed 22 Apr 2009, 20:19, Reply)
Fine, I shall refrain from joining the HSH threads
I will however encourage others to start new threads whenever they feel like it as the conversations today were a damn sight more interesting than they have been lately. Mostly, I suspect due to lack of HSH thread.

Yes Loon. *pats on head*
I'm not keen on too much fluffy but I will defend to the death somebody else's right to dispense hugs and cake etc on any HSH thread they wish.

Edit - Becky, that is my whole point. Start your own threads and talk of whatever you like and people will join instead of going to HSH and complaining that it's not what you like.

Awwww BGB
I missed all this ;-)

It's hard work being the voice of reason : )
.

We need a voice of reason
lest we wind up indulging in an anarchic outpouring of net based sexing and cannibalism.

Well then...
I went out this afternoon and consulted with the guys at a welding supply shop, and ended up getting some silver solder to put together the frames for my next big project. So instead of welding brass to brass, I'll be soldering them together with high temperature solder which won't pop apart if I solder other things in there with lead solder.

I'll post pics when I have them.

@Loon
When I read 'next big project' I feel it should be in capital letters. *grin*
(, Wed 22 Apr 2009, 20:40, Reply)
well, dunno
needs some fluffies, at times. but agrees that if it's all just hugs, it turns *yawn*

maybe I am just that selfish only child they always said I was!

but, hello: CONTENT.

Well, it's still in the semi-planning stages.
The privacy screens for my windows will be a pretty major undertaking, as I've never done anything quite like this before. I'm intending to make them with brass bar stock for the frames, and then metal work on the insides with pieces of glass soldered in.

At the same time... I'm half wondering if I should maybe make the frames from wood, as it's easier to work.
(, Wed 22 Apr 2009, 20:48, Reply)
Privacy screens?
GOOD IDEA.

Hey, I'm workin' on it, all right?
I do tend to have a rather full plate at the best of time, you know.

*frowns*

OK. I've started a proper HSH thread with it's own image
it's here.

One reason that HSH threads are better than having several different threads is that having a single thread means it's easier to find where the chat is going on.

But as I said before, back in the day, many of the regulars were either unemployed or had too much spare time on their hand. This has all changed, and many of us have shaken off our addiction. We need to keep the threads alive for the benefit of future newcomers. It would be a shame to see them die.

Here's to the future of HSH threads!!!

For just £2 a month
you too can sponsor a HSH thread.

former HSHer turned complainer
Miss Blouse, I'm sorry to have pissed on your barbecue.

having a single thread means it's easier to find where the chat is going on.

I completely agree. However, the chat has become boring and uneventful. I no longer feel any curiosity dragging me towards them.
(, Wed 22 Apr 2009, 23:10, Reply)
If you don't like it
don't complain about it. Post something interesting instead.
(, Wed 22 Apr 2009, 23:40, Reply)
I'm happy enough for there to be an HSH thread
but I was lamenting the recent lack of posts like the ones we saw yesterday.

Your analogy wasn't quite right, it was more like "let's play every game anyone can think of"

the problem I find with the HSH thread is that because I can only dip in and out of b3ta during the day that I have to go through loads of posts to try and find out what is going on, and it's hard to join, start or keep going a conversation.
(, Thu 23 Apr 2009, 8:33, Reply)
Everybody seems to be missing the point.
*gives up*
(, Thu 23 Apr 2009, 8:48, Reply)
unless your point is
it's there for people who like it, it will turn into what it will, and if you don't like it you don't have to read it, then I have missed your point.
(, Thu 23 Apr 2009, 9:11, Reply)
@Vipros
That is what I meant and thank you for putting it much clearer but can I add that people should not keep going on about how shit it is just because it's not their cup of tea. It's not shit to those that partake of the HSH thread daily.
(, Thu 23 Apr 2009, 9:29, Reply)
it's the same as the /talk /qotw argument really
which is stupid.

I was pleased to see more random threads yesterday, but the presence of the HSH thread isn't going to stop those...
(, Thu 23 Apr 2009, 9:41, Reply)
This is true
HSH can get a bit samey, but every now and again it will perk up and surprise you.

Yesterday was good though, with the random threads.
