I can remember when all this was fields
and I was a fine figure of a man with hair and everything who had women throw themselves at his feet just to prevent him leaving.

What are your fondest memories?

all my fondest memories are from my childhood or from the last two years now that there are kids in our family.
Where as partying and school days are actually quite crap, they're not things I generally enjoy looking back on.

Oh, probably hanging out with my cousin while on vacation a few years ago, he died the week I returned to work.
So I was happy to spend the time I had with him.

Getting my thigh fondled whilst driving through Cumbria.
And dancing all night at a club a long long time ago. I only got off the dance floor to go to the loo.

There was this one time, right, where I was walking down the street, yeah'...
... and I managed to reach my destination without incident.

That was totally rad.

You should hear about the time I thought I left my fags at home, but then I realised I didn't, but by the time I finished checking my pockets, I had reached my destination.
Great times were had by all.

I think I'm still quite perturbed by the whole thing, I'll wait 'till I calm down a bit.

I don't think this is the right place to wear my thoughts and feelings on a flag.
Not that I'm stopping anyone else, it's just not my cup of tea.

No offence, great times had by all, just forum banter.

My best memories nearly always centre on school holidays
Things like riding around on bikes with my cousin, my first snog, my first love, my first sexual encounters, staying up all night, getting drunk, running through fields in the early hours, festivals, random brief romances. Ah, the air's thick with it. And it's definitely better in summer than at Christmas.

I'm pretty sure it was someone famous, if this guy's hair was a bit longer, they could be twins.

(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 15:24, Reply)
Yep, saw him
and had to bite my tongue to stop myself shouting out, "LOOK! LOOK! ANCRENNE BOOKED THE MIDGET!!!!" which would have been unkind to our shorter members of society.

You can call them Porgys though.
It's factual and accurate and not in the least bit demeaning.

MTFU
I'm filling up already.

My fondest memory is from the first bit of childhood I can remember with any real clarity. Back then the 11+ was a real big deal, and I passed. Not just passed but in the top 5% nationally. My parents were well chuffed and on my 11th birthday I was rewarded. Gently ripping the paper open with all the skill and care of a wounded buffalo, I uncovered the best present ever. A model yacht. Not just any model, it was a scale replica of The Lively Lady (Sir Alec Rose’ round the world contender). It had proper rigging and everything and could be set to tack against the wind.

At that time my sisters were very young and my dad worked all the hours he could so I didn’t see much of him. That day we went to the park, just me and him, and sailed my yacht. It was really great and when it was becalmed in the middle my dad rolled up his trousers and went and got it. We had an ice-cream and then a tired porkylips went home, with his tired dad.

This memory has only just came back to me and I’m pleased it did. I’ve never had a really close relationship with my dad. We can go weeks without contact. On Saturday morning I had a call from his girlfriend to tell me had been in hospital and had a cancerous kidney removed. He’s doing well and doesn’t want any fuss. I think I’ll be making sure we get some quality time soon.

I'm glad to hear that Porky but.......
Hang on. How old is your dad? He must be at least 70 and he has a girlfriend.

Go Porky's dad!
