And I let the woman con me into having some Nokia pretend Blackberry. Now I feel empty inside.
Phone companies, cunts right?

I got well sucked in. I didn't even know I was being fucked until I felt the balls slapping my arse.

I don't know a single person with a blackberry who regrets it, but aside that, I really can't see the point in them in the slightest.
Substandard features, esspeicaly for these days, it hardly does anything the first camera phones couldn't do.

admittedly tiny little keys but still better than the ABC DEF JKL etc.

I'm pretty sure Nokia did full-qwerty before they did colour screens, although can't think up exact examples right now.
The fastest mobile keyboard I've found is the iTouch/phone one, it took a few days to get used too though.

But I'm probably gonna get an i-phone at the end of the year.
BlackBerrys are great, but I agree with what Gonz said.

like text messages or the built-in browser (which is shit and I never use). It would be ideal for entering URLs which probably aren't going to be dictionary words, but ironically its not offered there even for the the built-in browser.

I got the new one yesterday, and I'm quite disapointed with the camera to be honest... I did use my old camera quite a bit, as I don't always want to carry around my propper camera. It's supposed to be 3mpx now, but I think it works about the same as the first VGA cameras in quality. The object-recongition is good, it would be great to see some Augmented Reality stuff on it.
I should have waited to see what the N97 is like, but even then, it's not coming out on any contracts (or contract+phone costs) that are relivent to me... but in the 6 months or so that you're looking at, then it might be the one to go for.
Then there's still the Palm Pré, which hopefully should be sorted by then.

and I love it, so I am not too bothered about cameras on phones.
When it's time for me to get a new phone, I shall come round to your house and fiddle with yours.
And look at your phone.

but that's an issue that's BT's fault, not the blackberry's

They sold Cellnet to make O2, I think beause of the monopoly commision.
I thought all the mobile providers, at least in the UK, have their settings up on the web with a webform to send you the settings Over The Air.

So the phone is branded to Orange, but you've Unlocked it... ok, I get that bit.
But the operator you say is BT? Are you totally sure about that?

Thats prob fair call.
I have a work provided one. I use it for phone/sms/calendar/email only, synched to Outlook. Thats all I want from it. If I could improve it for my needs I'd ask for an AM/MW radio and of course a more powerful battery.
One non normal feature I like is the light associated with the video camera... bright as buggery and handy for finding dropped things at night etc.

The only reason Blackburys are popular is because when Sprint (or AT&T, one of the US Mobile Operators anyway), RIM and [one of the major banks] all were at the same function, and they hooked up eachother to make a ton of money, then once one started using it, along with a fair few celebratys, everything clicked into place.
I've always managed to link up all that stuff, with Notes too, into Outlook/Lotus, but find now I OTA link up to Google, which is basicly iMap and Exchange combination, and that seems to be the best sollution.
You're right though, a more rugged Blackberry (it would have to comrponise on the keyboard somewhere; their major selling point) would probably make big bucks.

I have heard Nokia is the worst of the clones. Dunno, just a whisper from some professional phone sellers I know who can get a blackeberry for my mates for less than 5 quid. Or something like that.
