I have a friend
who's on the Human Tissue Authority board. She had to inspect this to make sure it complied. She said the thing she found disturbing was that the women in it were posed quite sexually.

But...hang on a second
There is such a thing as the human tissue authority board? What do they do?
(, Mon 29 Jun 2009, 16:14, Reply)
Yup, there is.
http://www.hta.gov.uk/

The Board is government appointed and they do white papers, policy decisions and advise on regulations and the like.

That's really interesting, thanks CHCB

I find
the "unnamed" bodies Von Hagens procured from the Soviet and Chinese governments early in his career slightly more disturbing. Although they have apparently all been removed from the show and cremated now.
(, Mon 29 Jun 2009, 16:16, Reply)
I couldn't look at the site long enough to figure it out, but, they're not real bodies are they?

(, Mon 29 Jun 2009, 16:17, Reply)
Yes they are
he does this weird plasicising thing to preserve them.
(, Mon 29 Jun 2009, 16:18, Reply)

Yeah, I saw them at a show I went to in the states. They were removed a few days later

After seeing this I was going to donate my corpse
But it turns out you have to pay for the privilege! So I donated my cadaver to science instead.

I went when it was in Manchester last summer
It's cool...but in a slightly creepy way. I pottered round round for hours, fascinated...reading all the accompanying notes and peering carefully at all the exhibits. It really is very interesting.

...Until I was quite forcibly hit by the realisation that these 'things' all used to be people. It kind of squicked me out a bit.

But yeah. Go. It's incredible.
