After a traumatic 'Windows ate my 160gig music collection' incident last year, I'm on the listen out for some new bands. I like most stuff except really heavy metal or hardcore/trance. Everything in between is fair game.
What's dribbled through your earholes recently?
Or, credit to clendrix, what're your top five most played in iTunes, Spotify, player of your choice etc?

Joshua Radin
Jason Mraz (I know he's been around for a while, but I only heard him recently)
That's all for now, but there may be more!

I listened to Paulo Nuitni's most recent album last night... He seems to think he's suddenly become a 50's crooner.

at the moment after seeing their amazing gig at Glastonbury.

So this is on my list, yes.

Yesterday in fact, was "Crazy Enough" by Storm Large, since the "my vagina is 8 miles wide" track from yesterday was so damn catchy.

Colbie Caillat: Coco
Black Sabbath: Mob Rules
Anthrax: Among the Living
Lady GaGa: The Fame

I'm still in "asleep mode" today.
It's awful.
( , Fri 24 Jul 2009, 9:52, Reply)

I found the Lady GaGa album a bit bland if I'm honest. I only gave it one listen though... I may try again.

Anal Cunt or Cannibal Corpse.
Not as heavy as you might think.
( , Fri 24 Jul 2009, 9:54, Reply)

Cannibal Corpse are a very enjoyable quiet band, listen out for the tracks "Fucked with a knife", and "I cum blood"

but La Roux and Florence and the Machine have been on constant repeat for a while now. They're good for doing the washing up to.
*EDIT* I quite like Lady Gaga as well, although I may change my mind if I can't get poker face out of my head soon. I'm also in the process of downloading the mercury nominees for this year.
Oh, and have you heard of external hard drives at all?
( , Fri 24 Jul 2009, 10:01, Reply)

I think I'm getting old.
( , Fri 24 Jul 2009, 10:12, Reply)

but get the feeling I'll be more interested in her stuff a few years down the line when she stops just trying to sound like 80s pop and starts to do her own thing.
edit because I like Lady Gaga, too, in moderation. And I'm nearly an old man!

Johnny Truant or Sikth, as I'd call them "pretty heavy".

although "Backstabber" has become some kind of default music stuck in my head so I'm trying not to for a week or two.
( , Fri 24 Jul 2009, 10:14, Reply)

although 'Jeep Song' is probably my favourite. Have you heard any of Amanda Palmer's solo stuff?
( , Fri 24 Jul 2009, 10:50, Reply)

I love Coin-Operated Boy, that's a great song! :)

They are one of my most favourite bands, they're just silly. I love their version of Lionel Richie's Hello!! :)

An album I recently listened to for the first time in a couple of years and loved it -
Fury Of Our Makers Hand - Devildriver
Also, just download some Stephen Lynch, try to get his "Live At El Rey" DVD!

All three albums, but mainly the second one.
They are all called The Bronx, helpful I know, but if you want some dirty punk rock then this is the only way forward!
( , Fri 24 Jul 2009, 10:56, Reply)

They only have the one album at the mo', but Skeleton Boy is a brilliant track. The video version of that tune is a bit different to the album one, well worth a shot:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyA8zfouG4Y
If you like that, you'll probably like the rest of the album

Crusty traveller ska from the 80s fronted by the chappie from Subhumans. Upbeat, bouncy, positive music about paranoia and how rubbish the Tories were.
Takes me back, I tell ya.
( , Fri 24 Jul 2009, 11:15, Reply)

a good album to start would be 'The Ideal Crash'.
Kind of progressive/art rock.
