What're you listening to at the moment?
After a traumatic 'Windows ate my 160gig music collection' incident last year, I'm on the listen out for some new bands. I like most stuff except really heavy metal or hardcore/trance. Everything in between is fair game.

What's dribbled through your earholes recently?

Or, credit to clendrix, what're your top five most played in iTunes, Spotify, player of your choice etc?

Couple
Joshua Radin
Jason Mraz (I know he's been around for a while, but I only heard him recently)

That's all for now, but there may be more!

Cool.
I listened to Paulo Nuitni's most recent album last night... He seems to think he's suddenly become a 50's crooner.
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 9:39, Reply)
I'm loving Florence and the machine
at the moment after seeing their amazing gig at Glastonbury.
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 9:43, Reply)
I'm checking out all the artists on this year's Mercury nominations.
So this is on my list, yes.
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 9:47, Reply)
Last album I bought
Yesterday in fact, was "Crazy Enough" by Storm Large, since the "my vagina is 8 miles wide" track from yesterday was so damn catchy.

Five favourite albums on Spotify atm:
Colbie Caillat: Coco
Black Sabbath: Mob Rules
Anthrax: Among the Living
Lady GaGa: The Fame

Oh yes! Sorry...still in pyjama mode.
Should get dressed, I suppose.
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 9:51, Reply)
I knew you knew that, thus there was no insulting :p
I'm still in "asleep mode" today.
It's awful.
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 9:52, Reply)
How sweet!
I am going to be lovely to you all day.
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 9:53, Reply)
*worries*

(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 10:00, Reply)
Good taste there.
I found the Lady GaGa album a bit bland if I'm honest. I only gave it one listen though... I may try again.
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 9:50, Reply)
I didn't much care for it first couple of times either.

(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 9:51, Reply)
Try some
Anal Cunt or Cannibal Corpse.

Not as heavy as you might think.
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 9:54, Reply)
Nice!
Cannibal Corpse are a very enjoyable quiet band, listen out for the tracks "Fucked with a knife", and "I cum blood"
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 10:07, Reply)
I'm less than convinced.

(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 10:11, Reply)
my theme tune this morning is sabotage

(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 9:55, Reply)
Sabotage
is a great morning tune.
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 10:27, Reply)
It's not normally my kind of thing
but La Roux and Florence and the Machine have been on constant repeat for a while now. They're good for doing the washing up to.

*EDIT* I quite like Lady Gaga as well, although I may change my mind if I can't get poker face out of my head soon. I'm also in the process of downloading the mercury nominees for this year.

Oh, and have you heard of external hard drives at all?
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 10:01, Reply)
The La Roux album all sounds like over-produced pop to me.
I think I'm getting old.
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 10:12, Reply)
I kinda like La Roux
but get the feeling I'll be more interested in her stuff a few years down the line when she stops just trying to sound like 80s pop and starts to do her own thing.

edit because I like Lady Gaga, too, in moderation. And I'm nearly an old man!

(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 10:12, Reply)
I dunno if you'd like
Johnny Truant or Sikth, as I'd call them "pretty heavy".
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 10:15, Reply)
I've been listening to the Dresden Dolls a lot lately
although "Backstabber" has become some kind of default music stuck in my head so I'm trying not to for a week or two.
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 10:14, Reply)
Oh yeh,
that one does tend to stick. Funny though.
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 10:15, Reply)
I do like that one
although 'Jeep Song' is probably my favourite. Have you heard any of Amanda Palmer's solo stuff?
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 10:50, Reply)
Oooh I really like them!
I love Coin-Operated Boy, that's a great song! :)
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 10:55, Reply)

Mastodon - Crack the Skye

In Rainbows
Constantly re-reminds me how good it really is. Probably the best record of 2007..
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 10:28, Reply)
Agreed

That and Fleet Foxes are my favourite early morning albums.
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 10:29, Reply)
Also listening to a lot of Wrath

by Lamb of God, top stuff.
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 10:30, Reply)
Crack The Skye
Is fucking awesome.
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 10:30, Reply)
I do enjoy slightly preposterous metal

Fire up the Blades - 3 inches of blood is a classic example!
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 10:32, Reply)
One of the best albums of this year
for me.
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 12:25, Reply)
Ooooh good question
I can't stop listening to these songs at the moment:

A modern way of letting go - Idlewild
Calm like a bomb - Rage against the machine
B is for brutus - The hives
Sympathy for the devil - The rolling stones
Penny racer - Cave-in
Nothing comapres to you - Me first and the gimme gimmes

(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 11:29, Reply)
Ooh
An album I recently listened to for the first time in a couple of years and loved it -

Fury Of Our Makers Hand - Devildriver

Also, just download some Stephen Lynch, try to get his "Live At El Rey" DVD!
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 10:56, Reply)
The Bronx

All three albums, but mainly the second one.

They are all called The Bronx, helpful I know, but if you want some dirty punk rock then this is the only way forward!
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 10:56, Reply)
Friendly Fires
They only have the one album at the mo', but Skeleton Boy is a brilliant track. The video version of that tune is a bit different to the album one, well worth a shot:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyA8zfouG4Y

If you like that, you'll probably like the rest of the album
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 10:57, Reply)

First Aid Kit
The Wallflowers
Something for Kate
Frank turner.
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 11:11, Reply)
'Onwards & Upwards' mini-LP by Culture Shock
Crusty traveller ska from the 80s fronted by the chappie from Subhumans. Upbeat, bouncy, positive music about paranoia and how rubbish the Tories were.

Takes me back, I tell ya.
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 11:15, Reply)
dEUS
a good album to start would be 'The Ideal Crash'.

Kind of progressive/art rock.
(, Fri 24 Jul 2009, 11:38, Reply)
Heard it many many years ago
Liked it :)
