"Busy" would be a good way of describing how things are then ;)
( , Sun 6 Sep 2009, 8:38, Reply)

yeah, busy for sure, but progress is being made on a daily basis. i've found a guy who is going to sandblast the stone for the kitchen floor. as luck would have it he is desperate for a plumber so it's not gonna cost me any actual money.
we went to ikea on tuesday and got the kitchen (hi-gloss red) so that's just waiting for the floor to go down...
and the oak flooring for the living room was delivered on friday morning.
so yeah, kinda busy!
how are you?

got a lot of things on my mind but I'm okay. My dad came home late last night from the other side of Aus after visiting my grandparents so it's been good to have the family back together.

I had willpower and stayed in! Watched/recorded the Beatles stuff on BBC2. Just woke up in a sweaty panic. My mates are going on holiday, I'm minding their flat, feeding the plants. I think they're back next Sunday, but I'm going to London on Saturday. What shall I do with their keys? I've suggested I leave them in the pub where they used to work. That'll be ok won't it? Your house sounds ace B69

When you've just woken up, everything's a terror alert. My aunty in Australia has been asking me for info on dead relatives. My Nana knows everything, so I've been able to help, and my aunty's been emailing me old photo's I've never seen.
( , Sun 6 Sep 2009, 9:29, Reply)

yeah the house'll be ace when it's finished. so much work...
if your pals took a key with them and gave you the spare then you could just fire it through the letterbox...but you probably ruled that out already?
( , Sun 6 Sep 2009, 9:31, Reply)

They live in a flat with a communal hallway. I think the pub option will be ok. Did you take lots of 'before' photos of the house so that you can compare later?
( , Sun 6 Sep 2009, 9:36, Reply)

but what the fuck!
it's really starting to look kinda finished and i know what's gone in to it. i took photos of quite a lot of the technical stuff, the underpinning and steelwork and underfloor heating and suchlike...
i also took photos of all the spurting cocks that inevitably get drawn/painted on walls during a refurb.
lots and lots of cocks!

How do you manage with all the chaos? When my dad's decorating, he phones me up and I have to go to their house, get my height measured and write what band is my current favourite. The height has obviously not changed, and I'm too cynical to have a new favourite band, but he's got them all on the living room wall since I was 10. I'd do it if I had kids or if my cat would comply.

thankfully we've not been living in the house.
weeblaireau will be 3 in december and yet to spend the night in her new home. and as for how i've managed? well, i'm on medication! LOL

My mate is on the happies, and personally I think the dose is too high. She was like Zebedee in her movements and was being a bit too 'friendly' with the chaps on Friday when we were out. I said "Are you on pills?!" (meaning ecstasy or something) and she goes "WOO! You fucking know I am, double the dose!" She's either on to many or she is more than merely depressed. It's exhausting, lolzilla!
( , Sun 6 Sep 2009, 10:23, Reply)

it was 1 a day for 2 weeks then 2 a day after that. when i first started and then when i increased the dose i kept getting the most amazing rushes. it was very mdma like. pretty much the same chemistry i guess. i had days when i just had to come home and hibernate in a groovy sofa fog. but it's calming down now...thank fuck. i dig the zebedee reference, i can see i was a bit like that...

but anyway...
the door is ajar...
the sri-lankan curry that i'm making is nearly ready. doing it in the (little-used) pressure cooker. lamb and beef got marinaded overnight in:
* 1 tbsp ginger paste
* 1 tbsp garlic paste
* 1.5 tbsp red chilli powder
* 1 tbsp coriander powder
* 1/2 tbsp black pepper powder
* 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
* 1/4 tsp cumin powder
* Salt
then fried off:
# 2 cups chopped onions
# 3-4 split green chilies
# 2 tsp fenugreek seeds
# a few curry leaves
seperate pan, browned meat, added to onions once they were browned a bit. then add a tin of coconut milk. about 10 minutes or so once the thingy pops up on the pressure cooker.
mix in a little garram masala and lime juice when you take it off the heat and sprinkle with fried/roasted peanuts to serve.

Sounds delicious. I'm taking my bezzy mate to my mum and dad's for sunday roast. We're going to drink booze with my family then get tarted up for an 80s rock night at a bar near mine. Nostalgia or what! Enjoy your curry, I might pop back online in a bit, or I might just get straight on the sauce. Yard-arm and all that...

the curry is fantastic. i mean really fantastic. just a wee bit hotter than i would normally make but that's no bad thing.
enjoy roast and drinks and partying and ting
over and out

After spending the last 3 or so months 'hacking' my shower to get the hot water to work, now it seems to have stopped altogether. I'm therefore giving in and calling a plumber.
( , Sun 6 Sep 2009, 13:23, Reply)

Basically, me and Mr. Tap had a bit of an understanding. If the tap didn't produce enough hot water, I'd shut it off and turn it on again. Sometimes, this improved the flow, and sometimes, it reduced it. I was able to get a decent flow most days, but today, it's given up on me altogether. The cold tap works just fine.

and shower there. Two problems solved in one go! You don't need to fix the shower and you have a reason to go to the gym regularly!
Assuming you want to go to a gym, of course.

we should ask before we dispense any more advice...
( , Sun 6 Sep 2009, 13:40, Reply)

but I filled a cup with hot water from my bathroom sink for when the coldness got too much.
( , Sun 6 Sep 2009, 13:44, Reply)

but the gym is four miles from my flat.
In my first flat, I only had a bath, but lived close to the office and they had a shower there which I used.
