Howay Kids.
It's Friday night, there ain't nuttin' goin' on.

I'm not working in any capacity whatsoever tomorrow.

I'm bored. Talk to me.

But not about cricket, thank you.

I'm bored too
I fancy some cheese, and a good port to go with it.
(, Fri 2 Oct 2009, 20:51, Reply)
It is all your fault
You reminded me to check the cricket...
(, Fri 2 Oct 2009, 20:56, Reply)
OK, talk about anything you want.
How can an England team that looked superb against Sri Lanka, very good against South Africa and - even though we lost, not bad against New Zealand give the fucking game to the filthy convicts?

I've turned down a good night out to watch this shite cricket.

I'm furious - and a bit pissed - and I'm off to bed. Useless cockbadgers.

My best mate double-booked
and now I have nothing to do tomorrow night. I'm more than a bit morose about the whole thing, so I'd appreciate a good ol' fashioned MTFU if you'd oblige.
(, Fri 2 Oct 2009, 21:10, Reply)
MTFU gaylord : )

Come to [home town removed] and get pissed with me tomorrow.

No, you're too far away.
:)

I seem to be too far away from everyone : (

Time to move then, eh?

(, Fri 2 Oct 2009, 21:37, Reply)
I've just got here.

(, Fri 2 Oct 2009, 21:44, Reply)
I still can't tune this damned guitar.
And have given up trying to make the Unreal Tournament mod I just downloaded work over LAN.
(, Fri 2 Oct 2009, 21:19, Reply)
I suggest a hammer

(, Fri 2 Oct 2009, 21:22, Reply)
I've got an inflatable mallet
but I suspect it won't do the job...
(, Fri 2 Oct 2009, 21:23, Reply)
It's one of three problems.
You need new clean strings,
The neck is bent or too worn, or
You're shit.
(, Fri 2 Oct 2009, 21:22, Reply)
The strings are brand spanking new
so I'm going to go with b) and c).
(, Fri 2 Oct 2009, 21:24, Reply)
Just a bit of practice will eliminate 3.
Adjust the pins very gently and listen/feel for tremelo between the notes. After a couple of weeks you'll wonder why you had such problems with it.

Either that or the neck's bent. Check by looking straight down the edge from the head to the body with one eye. You'll definitely be able to see if it's bent.
(, Fri 2 Oct 2009, 21:28, Reply)
Neck isn't looking bent from here o.O
I'll just have to tune it very thoroughly and hope for the best - once I've got it tuned, it will all improve... right?
(, Fri 2 Oct 2009, 21:33, Reply)
It's been days.
You fail.

I have a quiet day tomorrow, then playing at a gig at night. Interesting, since my elbows both currently hurt, and my left fingers are rather sore.
(, Fri 2 Oct 2009, 21:22, Reply)
Eh, you aren't telling me anything I don't know.
It's a slow process to say the least.

Where are you gigging?
(, Fri 2 Oct 2009, 21:24, Reply)
Someone's 20th birthday party.
I can't overly be bothered with it, but I get paid. Let's just hope the joints hold out. And that my drums arrive soon.

Are you using a tuner to tune the guitar?
(, Fri 2 Oct 2009, 21:25, Reply)
Just think of the money, The shiny shiny money.
It won't make your joints not ache like a wanking gibbon, but it'll help sweeten the blow.

I'm using an online tuner thing to tune the guitar - here
(, Fri 2 Oct 2009, 21:28, Reply)
Well, those seem to be accurate
Apparently you're just made of lose then :P

You just need to match the noises now. Like that game where you match cards that are turned over, but without the cards.
(, Fri 2 Oct 2009, 21:29, Reply)
Apparently so!
I was doing pretty well until it got on to the finer points of tuning it, where it seemed like I'd do one and then the one I'd just done would slip...
(, Fri 2 Oct 2009, 21:34, Reply)
Don't use a tuner for the first year or so
else you'll never know if a string is slightly out when you haven't got one. You don't need one anyway - your guitar plays all the notes you need to tune to. Learn to tune by ear first, please, and see a good tuner as something you'll treat yourself to when you can do it perfectly by ear.
(, Fri 2 Oct 2009, 21:32, Reply)
That's an interesting angle to take on it.
I may investigate this, since when I try to play something I know well I'll be able to tell if it sounds right...
(, Fri 2 Oct 2009, 21:35, Reply)
Sooner than you'd think
you'll instantly know if a string isn't in when you play a chord.

Gaz me if you've got any questions, whenever. I'm happy to help.

Thank you so much :)

Buy a tuner
Go on - splash out a tenner! It'll also tell you if your intonation is off.
(, Fri 2 Oct 2009, 23:28, Reply)
Tempting, given that I got paid today...

(, Fri 2 Oct 2009, 23:36, Reply)
