Good Morning Fluffers Everywhere!

And what a gorgeous morning it is.
Made all the more gorgeous by the fact that i am enjoying my 5th consecutive hangover-free morning.
That's right folks, B69 appears to have given up the drink!!!
Woo! Yay!
Woo-Yay!!

Congrats on giving it up!
A tricky thing to do - I you keep it up and all the hangover become a distant memory

I'm trying to avoid getting up right now, as the house needs some cleaning, and I really don't want to do it.

congrats Blaireau.
it's a really difficult thing to do - so don't be afraid to ask your friends and family for help if you think you need it.

Cheers Stimpy and Poppet!
i've been an habitual drinker for a LOOOOOOOOOOONG time, and have always resorted to intixication to get me through the hard times...ahem...as if that's ever going to actually work! Lately (the last 2 years?) my drinking has become more and more of an issue, resulting in an increasing number of lost days, general drop in productivity and a return to the depressive episodes i used to suffer.
it doesn't matter how much good stuff there is in your life (like what i've got), if you're drinking too much then it all gets reduced to meaninglessness. which cannot be a good thing.
i have tried in the past to cut down, to give up, to get a grip. all to no avail. however last tuesday morning i woke up feeling different about things. mid-morning i phoned my wife and told her what a problem i was having with the drink, how i felt bad about the effect it was having on her and weeblaireau and how i wanted to do something about it. her support is invaluable but the change is coming from within me, not from anyone else.
and so i just decided to give it (and me!) a break. so i did.
just like when i stopped smoking. no patches, no fucking around. just stopped.
wanna know the secret?
you have to truley want to stop. that is all.
simples!
;-)

A secret I will try to remember
Should I come to want to give up nicotine.

Just being able to stop like that is great... I am very much lacking in willpower, unlike you, do doing that is something I admire you muchly for.
(, Sun 4 Oct 2009, 9:12, Reply)
LOL!
that's the point, it's about whether you want to or not. that's why most folks who try do not succeed, cos much as they protest they don't actually want to quit.
i'm trying desperately not to sound all preachy and smug, i really am. i'm sorry if it comes across that way.
i will defend the smoker's right to smoke and the drinker's right to drink until the end of time, so i will.
i guess in reality i just have a real problem in controlling my impulses. always have, maybe always will.
(, Sun 4 Oct 2009, 9:18, Reply)
You're not sounding preachy at all
What you are saying makes perfect sense to me. If you dont really want to give up something, then you are likely to fail.... it does sound about right.
(, Sun 4 Oct 2009, 9:21, Reply)
people try and over-intellectualise this stuff all the time, in my opinion.
it really is that simple.
if you want it to be.

anyway, on a lighter note...

MotoGP today!
all the way from Portugal!

and Pixies gig in Glasgow tonight!!
Woooooooooooo-Yaaaaaaaaaaay!
(, Sun 4 Oct 2009, 9:27, Reply)
More important than MOtoGP
Japanese Grand Prix is on... I shall enjoy it muchly, despite missing qualifying yesterday.
(, Sun 4 Oct 2009, 9:49, Reply)
oh no! a yawning chasm of differing opinion!
a wheel at each corner makes it too hard to fall off.
bikes are better than cars, only surpassed by vans.
Lewis Hamilton is gay etc.

what time's it on?
LOL
all racing is good racing!
(, Sun 4 Oct 2009, 9:59, Reply)
are you kidding?
it's boring as fuck, love. seriously - no matter how you look at it or what kind of racing it is - it's just people going round in circles.
(, Sun 4 Oct 2009, 10:00, Reply)
you've obviously never experienced pillion seat on a GSXR1300 ridden by an expert!
i'm NOT the expert in question, that was my pal Jason the Joiner.

oh, no...hang on...it's cos you is a girl. innit!
(, Sun 4 Oct 2009, 10:04, Reply)
no - it's not cos I'm a girl. I just don't see what's so exciting about watching people go round and round in circles.
it bores me. I'm not a hugely sporty or betting kind of girl, so I don't gain anything from it. I'd be more excited (and have been) to see a van gogh exhibition.
(, Sun 4 Oct 2009, 10:05, Reply)
I think bikes are a very male thing
Something to do with having a throbbing beast between their thighs ;)

I can't explain why I like F1 so much - it does actually bore me. I'll watch the start in case there are any crashes, then wonder off for an hour, then come back for the last 10 minutes and demand a summary from one of the boys. I would be equally as excited by a Van Gogh exhibition as I would to going to watch F1 live.
(, Sun 4 Oct 2009, 10:12, Reply)
Shit no
what kind of girls do you know, that DON'T like a throbbing beast between their thighs? Each to their own - my parents used to have the F1 on religiously and I found it boring as fuck when I was young, but I quite like watching racing now - I even marshal for my local motor club occasionally.
This is mainly cos at the end of racing I get to go out round the track to help close it, usually squealing 'wheeeee' all the way
(, Sun 4 Oct 2009, 13:51, Reply)
but it's not circles, unless you're talking about that stoopid american indy car shit.
fair enough, F1 ain't quite as exciting as Bikes.
vrrrrrrrrm vrrrrrrrrrrrrrm!
(, Sun 4 Oct 2009, 10:17, Reply)
never mind
any shite motor racing.

First Old Firm of the season!!! C'mon the Hoops!!!

EDIT: FUCK YOU KENNY MILLER!
(, Sun 4 Oct 2009, 12:30, Reply)
LOL get among it!
you can't beat a bit of harmless sectarianism, can you!
i found out the other day, can't remember where, that Glasgow has more marches per year than the whole of Northern Ireland! fuck me, that must be a fair few marches!
(, Sun 4 Oct 2009, 12:48, Reply)
thats probably right
when i lived there, it was like every 3rd weekend during the summer there was diversions in the city centre for some crappy march.

And WOO, 2-1. FUCK Kenny Miller

Greetings. Am skipping walking this weekend and going the way of the lie-in.

And congratulations b69. Let the willpower keep you afloat.

i'll be having a "Yee!" and a "Haaa!" if i may?
i think i deserve it!
i've had enough humility this week, now it's time for a bit of egomania!

i'm brill, me. i haven't had a drink in days.

okay, that's enough of that!

so Spazzmo, how's it hanging? Sloathfully?
(, Sun 4 Oct 2009, 12:51, Reply)
* brings in non-alcoholic Yees and Haaas *
It's hanging like a pendulum. Backwards and forwards and not getting anywhere.
(, Sun 4 Oct 2009, 13:09, Reply)
oscillating gently.
which reminds me of a very sill joke...
perhaps you've heard it already?
(, Sun 4 Oct 2009, 13:12, Reply)
Go on
Do share it with our non-telepathic brethren.
(, Sun 4 Oct 2009, 13:17, Reply)
