I have had a blood transfusion
story here www.b3ta.com/questions/blood/post217647 in case you care. but My question is this, if the blood they gave me is supposed to be clean and screened etc. why can't I return the favour and give blood myself? Any clever b3tans know? The blood service people didn't even know last week.

Is it because;
You're gay
You are or have been a prostitute
You have had sex with a man
You have been to Africa
You have had sex with someone who has been to Africa
You've had sex with a prostitute
You have AIDS/Herpes/etc
You have had innoculations in the last 12 months

any of the above?

they keep on at me to get mine
and yet keep cocking up my appointment to go and give it to them.

why don't I go without an appointment I hear you cry?

because there are so many people around here seemingly desperate to give blood that they can't cope.

I feel you lovely peoples are missing the point
I have had a transfusion since 1980 so can't donate blood.

In 1980 they didn't screen blood for the AIDS.
You may therefore have the AIDS.
(, Tue 27 Oct 2009, 17:08, Reply)
In 1980 I wasn't born
I had the Transfusion in 2004
(, Tue 27 Oct 2009, 17:10, Reply)
D'oh!

(, Tue 27 Oct 2009, 17:17, Reply)
The reason is obvious
you are a dirty AIDS ridden prostitute

(I do apologise, you seem like a great bloke but i'm finding this ridiculously entertaining, it's been a long day at the office)

Crack whore!

It's risk avoidance
There's no point putting blood in one person then giving someone a mix of more blood and again and again.

There may be a blood bourn disease that we don't know about yet and can't test for. Mixing peoples blood over and over is a bad thing and it keeps a sort of audit trail for blood so it's easier to find anyone who is at risk a lot quicker.

damn you
and your clever, "correct" answers
(, Tue 27 Oct 2009, 17:30, Reply)
I think thats arse, not clever.
They gave me blood from several different people and there is no trace of that blood in me anymore. If I gave blood it would be all mine not a mix and it would still be screened for disease.
