Today is my last day in the office before I tootle off to Barcelona for early Christmas with some amigos. I love Barca and could happily live there if the language learning centre of my brain wasn't such a mong.
But, where would you like to live and why?

Good question that. I would say Santorini for the weather and utterly laid back lifestyle. But I liketo get out on the sauce and have a laugh too so maybe a place back here in Mcr and one in NY.

My parents just kept me under the sink with all the bleach and that.
Not sure! My mate lives right near the centre, and he's taking us out so somewhere decent I hope.

Do you know the Plump DJs? I've known Lee for decades - if you want me to find out what he's up to on the night you want to go out, I can ask about guest list...I also know Matt Cantor from the Freestylers - do they count as break beat? It's not my scene really, so please excuse my ignorance.

I know a few breaks lads from up here, and met the Plumps in Fabric very briefly a few years back. I'm mates with Steve Thorpe, they should know him. I'll get some dates out of my mrs/mate and get back to you. Cheers!

I'm more of a plinky plonk funky house kind of girl. Well I am when I'm running.

Possibly because I spent a large proportion of '88 on acid...
There's a little corner of my record collection dedicated to Phuture and their ilk

There's a Humanoid LP of different mixes and some other tunes that is essential, for that style. There's one on there called Positive Electron that is worth the price alone.

Actually I live in a rather uncrowded and exceptionally crime free part of town, anyway you get that in any large city.

I really like London, but only in small doses.
It feels like you're quite isolated despite the amount of people there. Perhaps partly to do with cultural diversity or people speaking different languages.
Also, I'm from up North, where everybody says hello to each other and lives in terraced houses like them ones off of Coronation Street and doesn't lock their doors, etc

No reason for a terrorist attack, give them a few years and they'll all shoot each other.

1 is English and lived there with her Catalan finacee for years so they are Barcelonians (?) which is great cos they take us to loads of wicked places that are off the tourist trail.
(, Wed 16 Dec 2009, 9:52, Reply)
there's a place near Colom which is absolutely fantastic.
There's actually two, but I think one is closed (at the moment anyway) - Il Tre de Venezie, and Il Mercat de Venezie.
Fresh pasta/meat/cheese/bread/butter - all bloody mouthwatering.
Could be costly for large groups though, but well worth it
(, Wed 16 Dec 2009, 9:59, Reply)
put the Catalonians are a proud race and so we may only eat Catalonia fodder! Which is no bad thing!
I'll store mentally for next time I'm there...

to avoid good food.
in that case, try La Rita, on Aragon, between Pau Claris and Passeig de Gracia. Not particularly off the tourist trail, but your friends will most certinaly know it.
I recommend the bravas there - they come with xistorra and are excellent as a starter.
The place is quite cheap as well - a more economic option than the Italian joint

I like this country, but the fact that it's rained solidly for what feels like four years now and the short winter days make me spectacularly miserable. I spent a bit of time in Vancouver, which was very pleasant. Rainy, but more predictably so than over here.

I'm living where I always wanted to.
Warm weather almost all year round, 5 minutes from the beach, an hour from the mountains and next door to the local bar.
