Boo a serious thread
At the weekend I fancy taking a long drive to a nice pub as you do.

I'm pretty central in Leamington and I reckon I'd drive for about 2 hours to get somewhere nice. (which is about 2h 30 in google map land)

So any suggestions? Preferably about nice pubs but I know you lot so I'm expecting anything and everything

There's some nice pubs near me, and that's only about an hour away.
Woburn's good.

In all fairness I have never really ventured woburn way.
I do fancy getting lost somewhere totally new though!

And you can go to the safari park and let the monkeys eat your car.

And watch the park rangers in Land Rovers

joy.

Only for a bit.
So don't worry.
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 16:18, Reply)
that is the most ridiculous statement I have ever seen/heard
the words recommend and Newport should never be near each other, unless in a sentence that also involves the words "be purged by nuclear fire"
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 16:18, Reply)
I strongly recommend that as a course of action.

(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 16:20, Reply)
it's at the top of the list
don't worry

White Hart Inn, Littleton-upon-severn
One hour forty minutes away and we'd sit at the next table and throw chips at you.

with the added excitement of a nuclear power station within walking distance.

Also, this place is awesome and very scenic

but worryingly close to Kaol.

But on the upside they sell 17 different types of cider
and 20 types of fruit wine.

I need
to go this pub. I didn't drink for the first six months of last year, and as soon as I started again, I fell in love with wine like never before.

That place sounds acemans.

Straight down the M6 for 2 hours
According to Google maps this would take you to the edge of the Peak District and there are loads of lovely pubs round here.

Quik edit: Cheddleton is reallllllly nice but possibly a bit to far.
Another Edit: 1hour 40 according to Google.

And I scoff in the face of google times
ahhahahah!

52 minutes according to mapquest and a nice drive to boot.

Sweet Jesus
There is so much wrong with that second picture, I don't know where to start. It's fucking horrible.
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 16:33, Reply)
it makes me want to cry.
EDIT I'm not overly enamoured of the first one either.
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 16:40, Reply)
The first one
seemed a bit racy for viewing in work, so i kinda had to scroll right past it. Although i did catch sight of a toothless hag getting her tit mashed.

The second however, is too harrowing for words, but i feel I have to give it go. Full of potential misery, the dead insect eyes, the hopeful smile from the girl who looks about 12.

*shudders*

Pass the mindbleach.
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 16:46, Reply)
just to be sure
these are not my pictures. they're from the eye-bleeding Droitwich Workingmens' Club facebook group. I could find ten others at least as bad, but wont for everyones' sakes.

Richmond?
Have a nice wander along the river stopping off at one of the many pubs whenever you fancy? Google says 1:49 from your place.

Edit: Thinking about it this might be a bit more of a Summer kind of idea...

The Black Bull in Liversedge.
If you go up the M1, Google says it's a little over 2 hours, traffic notwithstanding.

Also round that area, the Leggers Inn in Dewsbury (slightly nearer) and the Rat & Ratchet in Huddersfield (slightly further) are excellent venues.
