have all been recommended to me recently and I'm enjoying listening to them.
Share with me some sounds that have been tickling your fancy of late - I'm on a quest for new music.

I'm liking Bigelf! and 65days are pretty good but I'll need to be in different mood before listening to lots...
Thanks for the tip.

Are indeed rather good. Electronic post rock. The Dim and Distant Glow of European Dance Parties is a good starting point.

I roadied for them a few months ago and whilst they're music was fairly poppy and accessable to the masses (i.e music I like), I found them all to be fucking jumped up teenage shitcunts of the highest order.
I find it hard to enjoy music when I KNOW that the people behind it are cunts. See also, Morrisey, Oasis, Mika...

Their new album Tides and Tides is awesome. Their other album's great too.
They're starting to gain more and more attention, and deservedly so. Can be found on that there iTunes.

Tindersticks: Falling Down a Mountain is truly beautiful.
Also diggin' Fever Ray, Memory Tapes and started to relisten to (and enjoy) British Sea Power after previously dismissing them.
I have previoulsy mentioned Broadcast & The Focus Group Investigate Witch Cults of the Radio Age and would urge you to give it a bash.
Just discovered Monty's beloved Tractor and would agree with his recommendation.

Is that the name of the band? If so, Awesome.
EDIT: I'm actually really enjoying what I've heard of Tractor so far!

I love gypsy jazz and there are some cracking Django-esque nights in and around Liverpool.

That actually sounds brilliant! We have a great jazz pub in Bristol but I can be quite trad at times and with it being the main (/only) venue here (there are one or two more that don't live up to the standard) i can get a little samey.
Where in L'pool does the gypsy Jazz nights?

I can heartily recommend a jazz trio called Fret & Fiddle. Might be a little hard to track down (I only heard of them because they turned up and played at GBBF one year) but definitely worth a listen.

Roy Harper - Folkjokeopus. Not to everyone's taste but I love it.

Just because it's not a new release, doesn't mean I've heard it...
I'm gonna get on that shit right now. Thanks.

The XX
The Phantom Band
Sunn O)))
Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra
Loads of old Mo' Wax stuff like DJ Krush, Attica Blues, Nigo, Major Force West, Andrea Parker, Midnight Funk Association and Palmskin Productions.
Mos Def
tindersticks
Don't bother with the new Massive Attack and Hot Chip albums, they are very dull indeed.
