I'm glad to hear Mastodon have improved
When I saw them live, they were unmitigated shite.

In my defence
It was 2004.
Crack The Skye is a superb album!

Blood Mountain is a great album as is Leviathon
Consider yourself banned from the Mastodon mutual masterbation tree house

They have got progressively better and better with each album
and they started off very good.

Expect their latest one

I like it, I think they needed to look to slightly new directions
to prevent them sounding to samey

Only released in 2006
They'd not long released Leviathan when I saw them, but they only played 1 or 2 tracks off that, most were off Remission (which I still think is a terrible album)

It's not terrible
March of the Fire Ants alone makes it at least good.

I saw them support Tool and didn't think much of them
but thanks to all the lyrical waxing re: their latest Opus, I am enjoying that record very much.

I saw them then as well
Didn't know much about them at the time, and was too busy impatiently waiting for some Maynard goodness.
