I'm going to try and see as few people as possible during those two weeks

I haven't had a two week holiday in probably at least 15 years. I think I'm overdue

one is on the edge of a sea loch, and is quite plush, the other is right at the bottom of one of the islands and is uber-plush, even has it's own sauna
(, Fri 26 Feb 2010, 16:03, Reply)
do you reckon it's possible to effectively smoke spliffs in a sauna?
(, Fri 26 Feb 2010, 16:11, Reply)
Brian Wilson had a hole drilled in the side of his that he used to smoke a spliff through, or get someone to blow some smoke in for him.
Could be a lot of shite, but I wouldn't put it past him.

I'll just have to smoke them before and after

maybe the wife could smoke the flesh cigar in the sauna though. Don't think the humidity would effect that.
Did you ever look into getting a tripod/monopod?
(, Fri 26 Feb 2010, 16:32, Reply)
A couple of toothpicks would have that covered, literally. ;-)
(, Fri 26 Feb 2010, 16:40, Reply)
I had forgotten all about it truth be told. I only vaguely remember talking about it.
what was the gist?
did you recommend anything?
(, Fri 26 Feb 2010, 16:43, Reply)
the gist was that there will be masses of stuff to photograph, and the best tip for a decent photo is keeping the camera steady. If the shot is brilliant, the lighting perfect etc, then it is a shame to fuck it up and make it blurry. Even resting the camera against a wall, or tree branch is enough, but not always convenient. So that is where the cheeky tripod comes in handy. When using my SLR, i have one of those remote plunger things that 'the experts' use. It totally eliminates any shake With digital i would recommend putting on the a 2 second timer and standing back. the added bonus with that is that you can run into frame and brandish your bits.

merely a Canon Ixus 85, but the tripod thing does sound worthwhile.
I will likely only get a mini one however, as I don't want to be lugging something around.
how would you assess the wisdom of that move?
(, Fri 26 Feb 2010, 16:50, Reply)
Not as much range obviously, but a definite boon
(, Fri 26 Feb 2010, 16:55, Reply)
Good for resting on walls and rocks. Extreemly portable, and better than nothing when going up mountains or across bogs.
Tripods are best, but can be a bit of burden to carry all day.

me and the missus fucked off to the Norwegian fjords for 3 weeks.

I am fed up with the cold rainy weather and always having the heating on.
Also I get to grow things in my garden again.
