A bit of a weird coincidence here. My last post was about a job interview today (it went pretty well, I think. Thanks.) in which I said that the last time I wore my suit was for my uncle's funeral in 2005. My uncle was a journalist, a socialist and an NUJ shop-steward (father of his chapel) for many, many years and had know Michael Foot since the 1950s. Michael Foot was at his funeral. So, last time I wore my suit was at a funeral that he attended, today, when I wore the suit again, he died.
The world is full of coincidence, but it isn't full of people as good as Michael Foot. I remember him speaking at rallies back in the 1970s and 80s, usually wearing his donkey jacket, speaking up a storm and then marching resolutely to Trafalgar Square.
A good man.

A real politician has passed. I doubt many will remember today's "Politician-Lite" breed.

I'm afraid we all ripped the piss out of him under Thatcher, but I've grown up since then.
A man with principals always suffers under the ignorant masses.

It's not hooded and black is it? Do you happen to carry a scythe when you wear it?

Now, for Thatcher. Today would be a good day for her to peg it on account of it being 25 years to the day since the miner's strike ended. nine more hours of the day left - here's hoping...

How many modern politicians could we say that about? I still think Norman Tebbitt should have succeeded Thatcher. You knew where you were with Tebbitt.

We could have continued the hate for a lot longer. I hate feeling nothing about a politician.

'wearing his donkey jacket, speaking up a storm and then marching resolutely to Trafalgar Square'.....where he proceeded to achieve precisely sod all, apart from having a cheeky wee in his trousers.
