Turns out it is true
Exhibit A

What have you discovered is actually true today?

Since Dave started showing Black Books, thousands of people have eschewed originality in favour of quotes from it as their Facebook status
thousands three

people my friends

I KNEW IT!
Monty is a massive bumder
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:37, Reply)
Points
for "bumder"
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:40, Reply)
have to admit I stole that from someone on here
I don't find you can get enough emphasis from the word shirter
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:45, Reply)
didn't they steal it
from The Inbetweeners?
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:47, Reply)
no idea
I didn't watch it because it looked shit
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:47, Reply)
It's not
It's funnier than watching Robbie Williams get kicked in the cock
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:48, Reply)
I need to gauge your tastes
tell me how good you find the following:
Peep Show
Gavin and Stacey
Big Bang Theory
Vicar of Dibley
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:50, Reply)
You forgot Dinnerladies

(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:51, Reply)
shhh

(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:53, Reply)
*thinks of dinnerladies quote for sig*

(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:54, Reply)
Haven't we established much common ground already?
Big Bang Theory is fookin' brilliant
Peep Show is very funny in a slightly too willfully obtuse way
Gavin and Stacey I haven't actually seen, never appealed and once it got over-hyped I was keen to avoid as James Corden annoys the fuck out of me
Vicar of Dibley can fuck right off
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:54, Reply)
ok, you check out
don't bother watching gavin and stacey, it's fucking dreadful
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:56, Reply)
Thank you
and thank you. Wasn't going to, but it's good to know that I was right not to - our tastes seem compatible enough for your opinion to count for more than anyone I know who actually likes it. Most of them like Vicar of Dibley too.

OK, acid test. South Park.
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:57, Reply)
south park is fucking awesome
far cleverer than most things on tv
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:59, Reply)
Damn
You were doing so well
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:59, Reply)
Some of South Park is amazing
Wait... am I agreeing with Vipros here?

fuck
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:00, Reply)
I agree too
I used to hate it and think it childish, but some of the more recent series have been really quite witty.
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:03, Reply)
next thing you know you'll be growing a massive beard

(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:03, Reply)
it's happening more often
something strange is afoot
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:04, Reply)
3rd funniest British sitcom ever apparently
according to some poll. A poll clearly asking people who say things like, "Do I like music? Yeah I love a really good mix of things me: Abba, Take That, Leona Lewis."
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:57, Reply)
Yeah, a few years ago UK Gold threw up about 10 all-time greats and asked the public to vote
Fuck knows why they included Dibley. I assume it's because they were showing it round the clock, and were having trouble getting hold of the licencing for Black Books, The Office and Red Dwarf

Edit: Rampant speculation. Which is the best kind.
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:59, Reply)
Inbetweeners is fucking awesome
I'll bring you a dvd at the bash if you want.
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:55, Reply)
bit puerile though
a bit not very funny style puerile unlike Bottom.
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:58, Reply)
I'm not sure I'd like if for this reason

(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:59, Reply)
Puerile in that it revolves around a group of 17-year-old schoolboys
It's very well-written and well-observed. You'll definitely wince in recognition but you'll piss yourself as well
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:01, Reply)
me neither, it's not much cop

(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:01, Reply)
I disagree
I think its great. I worked in a sixth form and its exactly how the sixth formers acted. Reminds me of me when I was 17.
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:01, Reply)
I don't want to see people acting how people actually act though
I hate people.

All 17 year olds are dicks
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:03, Reply)
I really enjoyed it
although the older you get, the more bitter you get about how you're not that age anymore. That's why I don't watch Skins.
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:04, Reply)
I don't know anyone
who actually lived the life of your average member of the Skins cast when they were 17
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:05, Reply)
the same is true of Hollyoaks
but at least the cast is roughly age-relevant, unlike Dawson's Creek, or any American high school thing really, where everyone is obviously 30
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:10, Reply)
I'm proud to say that I have no idea whether or not that is true :-)

(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:12, Reply)
It's horrendous

(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:00, Reply)

Peep Show: Good
Gavin and Stacey: Never seen in my entire life not even a single eppisode evah.
Big Bang Thoery: It's no "How I meet your mother"
Vicar of Dibley: Hellerious, did you see the bit when the vicar, who is fat, and a women, stuffed her face full of chocolate bars when she was upset? Or that time she jumped in a puddle and the puddle went up to her weist? Hahahah, great times were had by all.
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:02, Reply)
how I met your mother is great
at first glance it seems shit, but when you look deeper it is full of genius
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:03, Reply)
You know who can sort that out?
Future Ted and Future Marshall
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:04, Reply)
awesome
through a combination of scrubs, HIMYM and being mates with a guy who plays ultimate frisbee, high fives have become much more prevalent in my day to day life
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:07, Reply)
you should take up team 10-pin bowling
you get to Hi-Five after getting a spare or strike.
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:10, Reply)
I'm awful at bowling
except on the Wii
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:12, Reply)
Plus Alysson Hannigan makes me melt.

(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:13, Reply)
particularly because she is quite dirty in that
also, the one who plays Robin is stunning. in the earlier stuff anyway.
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:14, Reply)
SUIT UP!

(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:18, Reply)
I need more suits
have you seen the one where Barney sings a song about suits?

think it is the most recent series
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:21, Reply)
May even have been me
but it's not like I made it up, I got it from The Inbetweeners. It needs popularising

Edit: Yes
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:47, Reply)
how about if you apply some dressing to it?
He's a ye olde shirter from the days of the first wave of Greek homosexuality.
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:48, Reply)
This is true

(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:41, Reply)
he's like that military dad out of American Beauty
Why, oh why does he hate Bowie so much?
Aaaaaaah.
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:45, Reply)
I thought you meant American Dad for a minute
and then I was going to say "More like the gay alien... HAHAHA!"
Alas, now, it has all fallen on its arse.
And it wasn't much to start with.
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:50, Reply)
It's always good to share though eh?
Afternoon beautiful
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:54, Reply)
Eh up 'andsome

(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:14, Reply)
He finds Bowie's androgyny somewhat confusing...
..in that he is aroused by it.
A bit like skinheads going 'gay bashing' to hide their latent shirtocity.
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:57, Reply)
I found out that meme is supposed to be pronounced meem
where I've always pronounced it meh-may and I have friends who pronounce it mem.

I think of all the ways to pronounce meme, meem is the gayest, except perhaps for mee-mee
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:48, Reply)
have you and your friends ever had difficulty
pronouncing the word theme?
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:49, Reply)
exactly what I was thinking

(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 12:51, Reply)
ahhh
I never thought of that. I was trying to think of word that have the same phoenetics but couldn't. It still sounds so wrong to me though, now I'm in the habit. Maybe I'll start pronouncing it theh-may.
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:00, Reply)
TIMMAY!

(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:01, Reply)
JIMMAY!

(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:02, Reply)
Cripple fight!

(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:02, Reply)
No
Everyone knows you pronounce it Them-may
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:02, Reply)
I think you'll find it's pronounced 'them'

(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:15, Reply)
It's true that long hair is fucking annoying.
Although it's getting to the point where I'll be able to have pigtails soon, thus giving any future partners the joy of seeing me dress up as a naughty schoolgirl.

I'll boke on your behalf.
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:18, Reply)
Please send pictures

(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:20, Reply)
Well come to the birthday bash.
It will be just the right length by then.
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:22, Reply)
Hehehe
"length"
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:35, Reply)
pigtails are awesome

(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:21, Reply)
..and full of good 'wrongness'.

(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 14:11, Reply)
Yeah, but it feels nice
when you can shake your head back and feel it tickle the back of your neck sensually as it cascades around your head.
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:35, Reply)
Ooo! yes.
I forgot about that.
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 13:43, Reply)
I've discovered
that TGB hates being revealed to be a witless cretin so much that she's prepared to fanny about with old posts and then start a new thread in a feeble attempt to distract attention from this fact.

PS Long hair is fucking MAGIC.
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 14:10, Reply)
We had a tramp who used to shout
"Long hairs are magic, skinheads are tragic!"
