My last old laptop was turned in to this touchscreen surface but what to do with this one? Anyone got any ideas better than "Turn it in to a digital photo frame" I have a 7" lcd tv that will connect up to it with no problems so was thinking of integrating that in to the project somewhere. So any ideas?

And if you were to force Jeff to do my bidding then so be it. But make it quick because he's getting on a bit.

Make people do some kind of quiz thing to get in. Maybe you could hook it up to a web cam and greet them with "I've been expecting you Mr ...."

you could have a quiz like that old early 90s thing where celebrities answered questions on the screen
you would also need a camera pointed at them

Maybe turn your pathway into some kind of total wipeout style assault course.

Hook up to a motion detector which will ask them to look at the camera. Webcam with facial recognition? Customised greetings from a database? Link it to the house alarm so it will greet people it recognises with a meaningful message? All others to be informed you are not receiving visitors but if they feel lucky they may ring the bell?

That would be so seriously cool.

I'd have to put it inside and great on entry though as it would get nicked outside. Now I need software that will associate a face with a preset greeting.

Kitty's idea is the best one, I'm not even going to attempt to top that.

On a touch screen its no more hassle than scrolling with a mouse wheel you just rub your finger down the screen
