Demob Happy
That's it. I've had much work to do this week but it's all over. I've got a day off tomorrow floucing about doing very little before seeing one of my favourite folk musicians, King Creosote.

After that I'm going to spend the weekend with my gorgeous girlfriend Roota sorry to everyone who's sick and tired of our shenanigans already. What are you up to this weekend?
(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 3:37, 135 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
I too am gate gate happy, just gotta get through Friday
Gonna take the wife for a meal on Saturday and get on with the important business of brewing 5 gallons of wine.

I'll be mostly trying to ignore gulls first thing in the morning.

(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 6:55, Reply)
My cat has started imitating crying gulls :(
And there's a bird with what sounds like a bicycle pump following me around the country.
(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 8:57, Reply)
I had no idea, good luck to the pair of yers
dunno about today or tomorrow, but family is over on sunday after a quick game of golf, and monday will probably go for a couple of beers and watch footie with mates at united (cambridge)

Cheers Halves, you must be one of the few lucky ones!
The wee boy shouldn't be allowed near methods of electronic communication after he's had booze.
Bless him.
(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 8:56, Reply)
meh
drunken waffle is fine, and it's probably me being blissfully unaware of life around me more than anything you guys have done.

Coming to the beer festival then? what do you reckon to Cambridge? it's a bit twee but I like it
(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 9:02, Reply)
I love Cambridge!
But then I own lots of gingham things without irony, so twee is supa dupa as far as I'm concerned.
I might go to the beer festival, if he makes good on the promise to take me punting.

You from there or did you move there?
(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 9:06, Reply)
from just south of Cambridge
but lived in the area all my life apart from a disasterous 9 months at Coventry university.

Haha punting is bloody hard work, and in the summer insanely busy, but good fun if there is a gang of you and some alcohol
(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 9:09, Reply)
Sod the gang
I want it like the Cornetto advert ;)

Oh man, Coventry ftw. I went to an open day there, and me and my dad HOT-FOOTED it out of there with Slight Return blaring on the stereo!
Then I did a disastrous 3 months at Sheffield instead.
(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 9:11, Reply)
Go on a weekday then
it will be a little less touristy. can recommend the ghost tour as well if it is still running.
Yeah biggest mistake of my life going to uni, spent the next 5 years trying to pay off all the debts in shitty jobs, it broke me quite badly :(

Still, all is well now
(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 9:15, Reply)
I came back and re-started at Uni of Liverpool
I'll NEVER get it paid off. Nay mind. It was ace like.

Ooh I'm going on my first Liverpool ghost tour in a few weeks. It's called Shiverpool *shudders*.
(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 9:17, Reply)
i think
14 years of education was enough for me, ran out of steam and willpower.

Heheh Ace, they are good fun and a quirky interesting history lesson all in one.
Well if you two are around cambridge anytime and fancy an impromptu mini bash drop me a gaz, although drinking with a scouser and a scot I might need to bring the babelfish!
(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 9:21, Reply)
and lots of money ;)

(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 9:24, Reply)
yep probably
so where have you been around my fair town then?
(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 9:26, Reply)
I've no idea!
Ask djtp.
(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 10:47, Reply)

(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 10:58, Reply)
Punting on the Cam is jolly fun, they say

(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 9:16, Reply)
it is
but it is a bugger trying to get the damn thing going
(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 9:17, Reply)
Yeah
but it's lacking in scouse birds screeching about wasps all over the place.
I intend to remedy that.

isn't that a bit off a boat. Does that mean you have a flat with leaky boards?
(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 13:15, Reply)

Happy afternoon, y'all
I've done far too much work so far today, and have a bit more to do, then heading out to the first BBQ of the year. Oh, and it's gloriously sunny.
(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 13:12, Reply)
Hiya
Is it really sunny where you are???
(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 13:14, Reply)
It sure is
Properly, properly sunny. Hayfever's gonna be a bitch at the BBQ, but it should be fun.
(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 13:15, Reply)
I am jealous of you right now

(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 13:17, Reply)

Toffee apples

(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 13:17, Reply)
Aside the toffee stuff on a toffee apple (and actually, carny -folk of the world, it's caramel, not toffee, stop mislabeling your products), they're rubbish.
A '"toffee" Banana' though, that would be awesome, that's the sort of thing a guy like me can get behind.
(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 13:22, Reply)
oh! i want one!

(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 13:23, Reply)
They should be slices of of banana so you get more toffee.
OR maybe, just maybe, they could hedgehog the top by cutting into it and bending it ever so slightly.
(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 13:28, Reply)
Banana with butterscotch sauce and crushed pistacchios

(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 13:24, Reply)

(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 13:27, Reply)
I have it in a bowl with a spoon like

(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 13:27, Reply)
Needs to be on a stick, you're not allowed to use more than one hand for food at a carnaval.
Because your other hand is needed for doing things like making sure nobody has pinched your purse out of your handbag, or putting 2p in the "Put 2p in, and it gets knocked down 3 different levels, and hopefully will push a big pile of 2ps over the edge for you to collect" machine.
(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 13:30, Reply)
oooohyer
I love me some bananas, must try this
(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 13:27, Reply)
Morning everyone!
*checks* Ok, afternoon everyone!

4 days off, and at a complete loose end until a trip to York tomorrow.
Suggestions please, what to do in West Yorkshire on a bank holiday?

(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 13:23, Reply)

There are more barbers than pubs almost in Leeds.

(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 13:41, Reply)

I wouldn't even know what to get pierced, plus the ear doesn't count because it's cheap, what to do...what to do...
(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 13:44, Reply)

I was thinking a monroe
(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 13:49, Reply)
Mine has worn a little groove between two of my teeth
I quite like the monroes. Depending of the wearer looks like a chave though. That rigout detracts from a bit.
(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 13:51, Reply)
well...I don't think I look like a chav...
so that's one down...
(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 13:59, Reply)
You'll be ok then
And obviously that's only my own aesthetic tastes.
(, Fri 2 Apr 2010, 14:03, Reply)
why'd you have to wear a patch?

I've blagged tickets
to take my daughter to the Moscow State Circus on Sunday.

Bizarrely it has a Rasputin theme apparently, so I'm looking forward to the end when, presumably, someone will be poisoned, strangled and shot multiple times.

Family fun for all!
