My ex used to run it (has handed over the reins this year), and I used to help out there (general bod work and program writing). The last one (2008) proved too much for me, as it was the first one after we'd broken up.

Subculture
at the O2 academy in Birmingham isn't bad for a rock/metal night from what I recall, and the drinks are cheap. That said, the only time I've been my sister got me paralytically drunk, so it could have been really shit and I wouldn't have noticed.

I haven't seen any bands recently who have songs that make me want to do that, and one of the metallica gigs I was basically sat on a precipice.

I may get involved when Slayer or The Cult or Bigelf or Rammstein are playing at the weekend if they rock especially hard
