Also I'm putting a deposit down on a flat at some point today.
And I may have to sue someone for the first time in my life.

exciting business
what's the suing about?
(, Wed 1 Sep 2010, 9:14, Reply)
Old letting agent didn't protect my deposit
I still haven't got it.
(, Wed 1 Sep 2010, 9:16, Reply)
that's illegals and stuff
get suing!
(, Wed 1 Sep 2010, 9:17, Reply)
Yeah and 3x the deposit as the sort of standard compensation.
Well I think it's maximum but the stuff I've read say that I should just apply for the maximum.

I'm pretty sure you're automatically entitled to three times the amount if they don't return it without reason
however, did you say the reason you were kicked out is because the guy is insolvent?
(, Wed 1 Sep 2010, 9:24, Reply)
Well yes, the house got repossessed,
but the house was worth more than the mortgage so he'll get a cash sum.

And that was the landlord not the letting agent.

(, Wed 1 Sep 2010, 9:25, Reply)
ah right.
The letting agent is also breaching its protocols there so if it's a member of the Estate Agency Association or whatever, you could write a formal complaint about them whatever ombudsman type person they have, get them a black mark and/or struck off.

NAEA mate and ARLA (Assoc of Residential Letting Agents)
If the agent was a member of either of these two fine orgs. He was supposed to keep the deposit, not Landlord twunt.
