Morning offtopic.
I know I moaned a lot about losing my cat Rupert last week. House felt really weird without a kitty, so I went out and adopted one from the shelter.

Everyone, meet Henry.

Morning Henry.
You've nothing to worry about from me.
(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 8:42, Reply)
I should hope not.
he's currently curled up on my legs.
(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 8:42, Reply)
Well done on getting a proper cat.
I know very little about cats, but those tabbies are the best of all the cats. Why?

They look like mini-tigers. Mini-tigers with prematurely greying hair.

Looks great. How old? Is he affectionate?

(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 8:52, Reply)
he's a year old, just.
he's lovely and sweet - he's latched onto me and has cuddled me the whole afternoon since I got home from school.
(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 8:58, Reply)
He looks like quite a hefty kitty for a year old
(Not that I'd claim to be an expert on these things)
(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 10:01, Reply)
Nice looking cat.
Mine looked like a black and white shetland pony...
(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 8:54, Reply)
pfft! so a bit on the large side?

(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 8:58, Reply)
He's a fucking tank.
Just realised I am referring to him in the past tense.
(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 9:05, Reply)
aha rupert was built like that.
was a skeleton when we got him, and he just got massive.
(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 9:06, Reply)
Out of the 4 cats we have the heaviest is 7kilos (but isn't fat just big) and the smallest is 3.4 so the big'un is the weight of 2

Did it eat like a horse?
Morning Monty.

Might just watch some stuff on my laptop and let him settle on me lap.
(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 9:04, Reply)
and now he's decided for the fifth time that he likes my blanket better.
he's still settling, he only came home today.

Morning Kittie
Just wanted to boast about how I totally poledanced while dressed as a Lego Pirate at the weekend. I managed to hang by my legs upside down for a brief few seconds, before my Lego head fell off, I lost grip (was in jeans), and slammed back first into the ground.

Still, I did better than the Stag...
(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 9:47, Reply)
ugh don't you start
I want lego pirate lab pictures
(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 9:49, Reply)
Texted

(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 9:49, Reply)
Oh wow that's awesome!
I showed everyone in my office. And told them about the poledancing.
(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 9:55, Reply)
The Stag had made 7 identical sets
But we only had time to build 5. Only 2 survived the night, one of which smells like puke.
The lapdancing place wouldn't let us wear them inside. Bastards ruined an awesome photo op.
(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 9:57, Reply)
Bastards
*shakes fist*
(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 9:59, Reply)
haha that is so full of fail!
Did you feel empowered?
(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 10:11, Reply)
I felt very empowered
There was a hen do watching us, hooting and hollering, but we showed them the power of MEN.
(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 10:13, Reply)
And a pic to show the awesome costumes

(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 10:17, Reply)
Are you on the far left?
no wait... far right?

I want to say left because he is doing a little dance but I can't see tattoos.... And the others have pointy shoes....
(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 10:19, Reply)
I'm taking the photo...
We swapped around the costumes during the night, as there were 12 of us.
(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 10:21, Reply)
you suck

(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 10:21, Reply)
Hahahaha that is properly awesome!

(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 10:23, Reply)
I was blown away by how good they looked
Considering he knocked them up in 4 hours. Still, he does have access to CNC machines, CAD monkeys and tons of plastic...
(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 10:25, Reply)
Totally responsible for the extinction of indigenous Australian wildlife, right there.
I hope that cat can sleep at night.
(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 9:39, Reply)
Is that a bad thing?
Most of the shit there wants to kill you
(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 9:44, Reply)
yeah. extravagantly poisonous.
But it's mostly small marsupials the cats go for. Never really had a major land-based predator until humans introduced cats so they aren't adapted to deal with it.
(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 9:50, Reply)
Meh, it's all spilt milk now

(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 9:56, Reply)

What about the thylacine?

(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 9:59, Reply)
Damn, has this become a serious conversation? Cockspanners.
OK, the thylacine was at best rare on the Australian mainland. It may never have existed outside Tasmania, but its preferred habitat certainly would have made it uncommon outside of South Australia. In any case, it would have required larger prey - wallabies etc.
(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 10:06, Reply)
needs moar interesting

(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 10:07, Reply)

(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 10:13, Reply)
he looks like he's doing the old serial killer eye twitch
he looks a bit rapey.
i like tabbies, they are the best flavour of cat.
(, Tue 14 Sep 2010, 9:46, Reply)
Hello Henry, and a fine looking chap he is too.
He reminds of my old mate Steve's cat Dudley, who was famed, when put in one of those cardboard box folding pet carrier things, for effecting the finest impression of the alien erupting from John Hurt's chest ever seen.
