I hate it when people start new threads by complaining how long the last one was
so I won't do that. Rate your week so far out of ten and say what you'd rather be doing with your Friday night instead of sitting here chatting codshit with me.

I had a fairly good week at work and home.
But had to go to a funeral today.
I'm still at work, but will be making jello shots when I get off and playing with my dog. Then probably going out to play.

I'm with you on the mince pies thing.
I'm against you on the xmas pudding thing. It's discriminatory that you can't eat xmas pudding all year round and if I get in before next Wednesday I'm sure there'll be a worthy body that will take up my cause.

Lots of new clubs, but also a load of new lectures (though seems like a good bunch of lecturers this year). And no tutorials yet, which is always a plus.

I'd rather be visiting friends, but unfortunately don't have the time yet.

An interesting week for me
Started with my boss saying he wasn't going to replace my company car, which wasn't a company car at all, but a gift of some form, even though the tax man shafted me for it. Ended when I test drove an almost new Skoda Octavia, and the bastard shelled out 12 grand for it. So I rate it only 6 out of 10 because my ma is in hospital with being being old and doddery, which is a bummer.

For a friday night, I would rather be with my lovelly lady, instead of being by myself. Though the empty bottle of Shiraz and the pizza box by the side of my desk, mitigate this feeling somewhat.

When I visited on Wednesday, she would only talk about her dad, a seargent in the scots guards, and how great he was. FFS he died in 1946. She managed to avoid all questions about why she was in hospital (a quick blackout) but we did arrange a sweepstake as to who, in her ward was going to snuff it during the night.

All families are mixed up
You're posting on a board here of people who are, I'd say, mainly indepedent of their families.

Don't believe it's just yours, don't assume that you're imposing your woes on the unafflicted and above all don't assume that there's some sort of norm that your relationship with your family has deviated from.

Do what you think is right and stick with it.

Does it not make you feel better about your own place in life though?

And be on line at the same time.

Doesn't fit in with my Barbour-coated middle-classness.

Suerely you're watching people who WANT to be on TV, and are therefore lacking any sort of social skills that normal people hold to their own.
