The UK government is also comprised of right wing, anti-state, anti-spending, anti-people lunatics.
Don't go there.

Yeah but at least they believe in evolution.

(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 11:16, Reply)
The UK "far right" are closer to Obama than any of the modereate right in this country.
You just can't compete with the likes of Sarah Palin.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 11:19, Reply)
No, the UK far right are straightforward neo Nazis, but they aren't in parliament.
The UK government are trying to shrink the state by 40%. That's Palin country.

But are they trying to say they are
doing God's work? Seriously though, do the evangelical christians have anywhere near the power they are rapidly gaining here?
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 11:23, Reply)
Fortunately not
They tend to get laughed out of court on this side of the pond.

European politicians rarely talk openly about religion.
But christian conservatism is very common in Europe. Europe's largest political group was known as the Christian Democrats for years.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 11:25, Reply)
With the notable exception of certain Northern Irish and Polish parties.

(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 11:27, Reply)
But aren't they far left liberal socialist communists in the minds of our
evangelicals? I've never seen anything on the avaialble news of Europe about evngelicals in power like they are here. Just about any national politician now has to prove he/she is a member of a christian church to even get nominated. More and more, if you're not evngelical and "born again". you can't get elected.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 11:30, Reply)
I find that to be pretty abhorrent

(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 11:34, Reply)
Especially for a nation that was supposedly founded on secular principles.

(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 11:35, Reply)
and preaches about their free speech

(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 11:35, Reply)
Quite.
Also could somebody please send the Republicans a dictionary containing accurate definitions of "Socialist" and "Communist," because they seem to be convinced that they're the same thing...
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 11:37, Reply)
in the past I have enjoyed trolling certain types of American based on the way they spit the word liberal

(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 11:38, Reply)
You've got to hand it to the American Right
They've done a very good job of making 'liberal' synonymous with 'antichrist.'
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 11:39, Reply)
they get wound up if you explain to them other definitions

(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 11:46, Reply)
Ironic, really, for residents of "the land of the free"...

(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 11:50, Reply)
Try living with it 24-7

(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 11:36, Reply)
you have my sympathy

(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 11:37, Reply)
Thank you,
now about that extra room in your basement??? I promise we will be quiet and not make any noise.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 11:43, Reply)
I don't really have much in the way of a basement
but you are welcome to try and live in the two foot gap beneath the floorboards in my living room and dining room
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 11:45, Reply)
just please spill a little water between the floor boards once in a while.

(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 11:54, Reply)
can do

(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 11:54, Reply)
But by contrast, they're not trying to ban abortion or same-sex marriages
Which is a long way out of Palin country.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 11:23, Reply)
They aren't as mad on social issues, I'll grant that.

(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 11:26, Reply)
I think it's just important to keep things in perspective with these things
Our government doing something that, by coincidence, Palin also wants to do, doesn't necessarily make them "like Palin." There are plenty of other things they do or stand for which are very unlike Palin. Similarly, I may occasionally find myself agreeing with the view of a Tory politician, but that doesn't mean my views are 'typically Tory.'
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 11:34, Reply)
They are, on the other hand, typically massive poofter-like

(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 11:48, Reply)
Well, obviously I agree with the policy of reducing the sales tax on Cosmopolitans and Pina Coladas...
