I'd rather be
where I was a week ago.

That would be here.

See how there are three roofs in a line, then the next roof is at an angle? See the corner of that next building on the lower right, with the amazing view of the bay? That was our room. And the northernmost corner of the building? That's the dining room. As we sat there a bald eagle swooped within two feet of that corner, which was where we were sitting. He did that several times, so we got a good look at his underside as he dove in to chase off the gulls from whatever he was eating.

We also went out for drinks here. The place was filled with fishermen and locals, and I swear you couldn't have found a stranger cast of characters anywhere. They loved talking to us people from the Lower 48 and chatting about life up there- we were exotic to them, apparently.

The only bad part is that it's taken me the better part of a week to adjust back to Eastern Daylight Time.

That looks amazing

It really was.
On our way down from Anchorage we saw a golden eagle, a bunch more bald eagles, two moose, and in Beluga Bay we saw a pod of grey whales.

While we were there a storm hit, making 23 foot swells out to sea- hence all the fishermen at the Salty Dawg. Though it's a little difficult to make out here, there are mountains on the opposite side of the bay. We woke in the mornings to the moon over those mountains, glittering on the water. Our bed was just opposite the windows.

It was most definitely ace.

All these trips away you're having now.
Must cost you quite a bit of money.

Actually, no.
My wife is a field agent for the Council On Accreditation, which oversees adoption agencies and certifies child care facilities on military bases. Her ticket is paid for, as well as lodging, and this past trip my ticket was covered by frequent flier miles. So all it really cost us was food for me, which we would have paid at home anyway.

How useful for you.

Provided that I have the time free to go with, yes.
I've had to pass up quite a few interesting trips, but I have to make money.

You've been very lucky meeting women who could arrange for your travelling these past few years.

Sorry, I suspect you have me confused with someone else.

Not really.
It has however amused me greatly.
