ridiculous evening for me!
i am working late, then walking the lovely cold 6 miles to high st ken, buying lots of fancy birthday cakes (there's about 75 people on my floor), then driving them all the way back in to drop them off as i can't be doing with carrying £100 of cakes and chocolates on the tube in the morning!

Can't you get a minion to do that tomorrow?

(, Wed 10 Nov 2010, 18:49, Reply)
yes
but i quite like doing it, choosing hundreds of cakes is fun! one good thing to a november birthday, there's loads of fancy things around for christmas, so.
(, Wed 10 Nov 2010, 18:50, Reply)
We get cakes on our birthday at work too but usually it's just some cream buns from the supermarket.

(, Wed 10 Nov 2010, 18:51, Reply)
we're not special like these lawyer types.
We should stick to our pink wafers and mini flapkjack chunks.
(, Wed 10 Nov 2010, 18:52, Reply)
damn you
I really want mini flapjacks now. If I could only eat one food for the rest of my life it would be flapjack
(, Wed 10 Nov 2010, 18:55, Reply)
You would shit like a rhino

(, Wed 10 Nov 2010, 18:56, Reply)
It seems all healthy with it's oats and stuff
but the oats are just a treacle delivery system.

there is nowhere in england better for cheese
than the cheese stall at tod market. every time i go to tod, i have to go there for crumbly lancashire and that cheddar with the fiery jalapenos in it.

am going to the turnpike with my family for my birthday this year, they've just refurb'd it all. do you know "t'old bore" or "the turnpike" over at rishworth? "t'old bore" is the most INCREDIBLE food ever.

Personally, I think if Swipe was any sort of colleague
She'd bake the cakes herself.
(, Wed 10 Nov 2010, 18:50, Reply)
When is she going to get time to do that?
She's a crazy busy career woman.
(, Wed 10 Nov 2010, 18:52, Reply)
She could get her trainee
to make them.
(, Wed 10 Nov 2010, 19:00, Reply)
yeah right
cos my colleagues would rather pikey burned things from me than boxes of waitrose finest chocolate shite?

i think NOT.
(, Wed 10 Nov 2010, 18:53, Reply)
Get them fruit
It'll be cheaper and healthy!
(, Wed 10 Nov 2010, 18:59, Reply)
we already have free fruit in meetings etc
my firm is brilliant at nice touches like that.

trust me. it would not be popular.
(, Wed 10 Nov 2010, 19:00, Reply)
Why not nick fruit from the meeting rooms
And then represent them to your colleagues!

Alternatively, why not buy cheese and biscuits. Savoury WIN!
(, Wed 10 Nov 2010, 19:01, Reply)
some people do that
it is v popular. most people just get those tubs from m&s.

as you can imagine, i feel the need to go totally over the top.
(, Wed 10 Nov 2010, 19:04, Reply)
Quite.
Is it a compeative business? Buying cakes for your colleagues when it's your birthday?

Also, do they tend to buy nice gifts?
(, Wed 10 Nov 2010, 19:05, Reply)
no, i just go way over the top with stuff like that
and yeah, i have amazing colleagues, v lucky!
(, Wed 10 Nov 2010, 19:10, Reply)
What did they get you last year?

(, Wed 10 Nov 2010, 19:13, Reply)
my boss got me a massive thing from hotel chocolat
and the girls got me some jo malone perfume/body lotion, and a diptyqye candle.

they know me well!
(, Wed 10 Nov 2010, 19:14, Reply)
So they think you smell
And you've have the leccy cut off?

(Sorry, I can't think of anything to say about the chocolate).
(, Wed 10 Nov 2010, 19:17, Reply)
I made biscuits for the meeting I was meant to hold
in my new position. They were pretty crappy looking, but much to my surprise, popular
(, Wed 10 Nov 2010, 18:56, Reply)
How many different ways are there to hold biscuits?
Have I missed the point again?
(, Wed 10 Nov 2010, 18:58, Reply)
I made some a few nights ago
they came out extremely gooey, like Ben's Cookies. Nomitty nom. I don't have the excuse of making them for someone else.
