I never thought the daft buggers would actually catch one.

To be honest I did something stupid. I eventually got them off it before it was properly dead. I should have left them to kill it.

i did that once when i was 17, i cried for about an hour!
edit - ha, sorry, i read that as "i killed a squirrel", for some reason i thought "biscuit and benj" was a soft swearword. i am a moron.

does your gym have powerplates? they are really good for triceps, just hold the straps and pull! expect days of pain afterwards though.

Not very well equipped but nearby and cheap.

i was devastated when i moved back to london after a year living in cheshire after uni and realised the gyms were three times the price and one tenth the size/quality!

doing the plank on the powerplate is the worst form of torture. i'd tell you anything and everything after about 30 seconds! squats don't bother me at all, as my legs and bum are much more toned than the rest of me, but the goddam plank... balancing all the horrible lardy stomach and boob weight on two scrawny arms...... fuck!!!

His emphasis is on weightlifting but he makes some interesting points about the primary function of the core muscles being to strengthen the spine under load.

i still think the answer has to be both though.
unfortunately!

I use to do loads of crunches because I thought I might actually get rid of my belly and have it toned at the same time but it's not shifting so there's no point now. I don't work too much on upper body because I'm big enough as it is so don't want to add muscle up there.

Plank it up!
(, Sat 20 Nov 2010, 14:58, Reply)
It's cardio and diet to shift fat.
(, Sat 20 Nov 2010, 15:00, Reply)
I thought that I would do cardio to lose fat and crunches to tone as the weight went. But the belly's not shifting and I'm not giving up the plonk so:
Jelly on a plate
Jelly on a plate
Wibble wobble
Wibble wobble
Jelly on a plate
And now I'm off. Bye!

I have to admit I'm similar - cutting out booze and pizza is never going to happen. The gym just stops me having to be craned out of my bedroom with the window removed.
