Sodom may have partially been destroyed because of the rapiness of their inhabitants, but not because they threatened to rape angels. Otherwise there's an odd dearth of sources between 0th century- 9th century that associates Sodom with gayness

but sodomy as a concept wasn't defined until well into the Middle Ages, and has basically been a catchall term for 'perversion' for a long long time. Lesbianism in the middle ages was sodomy, as was occasionally adulterous sex etc
