You, the films started
Take your seat and stop distracting the other punters.

this pumpkin pie milkshake sure does look and taste a lot like a vanilla milkshake

(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 21:11, Reply)
Saw 'em in '86 son.
Where were you?

Tuesday 7th is your education. The Wedding Present, and I'll be in Leeds on the 6th.
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 21:15, Reply)
I was 6 in 1986.

(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 21:22, Reply)
I was 18 in 1986
Saw them somewhere in Glasgow a long way down a list that topped off with Propaganda/Act.
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 21:31, Reply)
Sorry Dozer
I'm enjoying this a lot but this really isn't going to be a patch on The Wedding Present.

D'you know that they're playing York on December 5th?

THE best live band in the world, bar none.
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:18, Reply)
got them on in the background

(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 21:19, Reply)
Where?
TV? Radio? Computer?
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 21:24, Reply)
6 Music
This is very good.
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 21:28, Reply)
yes

(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 21:29, Reply)
just got back from the gym
trying to decide whether it is too cold and i am too lazy to go join my friend and her boyfriend's hockey team down in battersea. soooo the choice is: bother to get dressed, get in the car, drive in the cold... or sit here with the fire on eating rice and watching "family guy". what would you do?
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 21:40, Reply)
6 Music NOW

(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 21:41, Reply)
sorry i don't know what this means
is it the radio?
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 21:42, Reply)
I would be listening to Primal Scream
Though they are messing with the track running order.
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 21:42, Reply)
Fits in better though.

(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 21:45, Reply)
it might be better
than the godawful wailing currently taking place in the main street
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 21:45, Reply)
Do you live on the ground floor?
If not, throw stuff.
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 21:49, Reply)
I live on the groundfloor
but nowhere near. That's how loud the wailing is. Some sort of Christmas singing but I reckon they've gone the African tribal route
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 21:51, Reply)
Headphones and loud music then
Slept at all today other than a couple of hours this morning?
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 21:58, Reply)
yeah
slept an hour on the floor with a hot water bottle. It was lovely but I do have strange red marks on my arms and legs now though. I'm assuming it's where the heat was too much
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:00, Reply)
Probably
Either that or you're mutating.
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:06, Reply)
I hope I get Magneto's talent

(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:14, Reply)
Being evil and a bit of a cock?

(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:18, Reply)
I'm those things already
now I'd quite like the manipulation of metal to go with it
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:19, Reply)
Well, sounds like you've got nothing to lose really
I should however note that most mutations end badly.
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:20, Reply)
No they don't
most mutations end with nothing at all.
/scientist
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:21, Reply)
I thought most ended up developing into tumours and other bad shit?
edits: That one cats can have where it looks like they grow wings looks pretty cool though.
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:23, Reply)
I flicked through a rubbish magazine
once. Take a Break or something. In it there was a woman who was magnetic and attracted small pieces of metal. When she was upset and stressed it got worse and tills/lights/electric doors would stop functioning around her
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:26, Reply)
That's nothing short of awesome

(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:29, Reply)
I know there's a family somewhere
that emit some sort of weird radiation that fucks up electrical stuff, similarly when they get stressed, lights flicker and things turn off and on and stuff. Might be bollocks, mind...
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:32, Reply)
yeah
it was quite interesting to read.
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:34, Reply)
No.
Mutations are neither good nor bad. Generally they're just a one or two nucleotide change which don't DO anything - just a typo if you will. However depending on where that typo is, depends on what happens. If it's in the middle of an important gene which regulates cell fate (ie, an oncogene such as p53 or BRCA1) then that spelling mistake can mean that the gene no longer fulfills its function and the cell doesn't die, it divides rapidly, accumulating more mutations. That's what cancer is - a mass of cells which don't die as they ought and which have the ability to pick themselves up and wander all over your body causing trouble.
Given that the large majority of your genome is junk, however... most mutations happen in great swathes of stuff that doesn't matter and therefore have no effect whatsoever.

Well I've learned something tonight
Also, how can Amberl make herself magnetic?
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:34, Reply)
I don't know
I shall have a think about it...
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:39, Reply)
ear/nipple piercings
fill piercings with powerful magnets. job done.
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:48, Reply)
Well the skeleton is calcium
calcium is a metal. Metal can be made magnetic if you wang a big enough charge through it, I think. Probably wouldn't be massively good for you though...
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:54, Reply)
it sounds like rather a drastic solution

(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:58, Reply)
plus uncontrollable

(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:59, Reply)
I have all manner of piercings.
Please do not magnetism me.
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 23:04, Reply)
Why on the floor?

(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:08, Reply)
More comfortable
and requires less effort
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:14, Reply)
Eep
how bad are the beds in college?!
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:18, Reply)
they're alright
but I don't sleep well in beds
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:20, Reply)
Don't you now, eh?
Wink wink, nudge nudge.
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:22, Reply)
I miss my double bed :(

(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:37, Reply)
having a double or bigger bed all to yourself
with fresh bedding is one of the best things in life!
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:39, Reply)
yup I do miss it
especially since when I do sleep I'm very restless and toss around a lot
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:43, Reply)
and me
i can't lie still for more than about 5 minutes
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:44, Reply)
I'm pretty sure my bed's more comfortable than my floor

(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:18, Reply)
i like to lie on the floor to read sometimes
esp in front of the fire!
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:14, Reply)
Again, I'm sure a sofa or something would be comfier

(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:20, Reply)
most of the time
but not all the time
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:24, Reply)
And that's the end of Screamadelica live
6/10.
(, Fri 26 Nov 2010, 22:34, Reply)
total technological failure tonight
2 laptops, one shitty old really one which has just decided i-tunes isn't working any more, and one brand new pink one, which doesn't have i-tunes on it at all. it is taking forEVER to install.

secondly my virgin box remote control has stopped working, so i can't change the channel and the "info" box is right across the middle of the screen.

thirdly my dvd player is fucked.

i should sooooo have gone to the pub. gah.
