Re concrete plans
Just checked the First Great Western ticket site and realised I've still got plenty of time to book my tickets (I think the cheap ones have sold out but I can still get cheap-ish ones).

As for a place to stay, I could stay at the Globe Backpackers Exeter youth-hostel.
