Another one
Stupid fucking intrusive bastards who think that it's bloody hilarious to shout out "cheer up love, it might never happen", if you're walking past looking upset. They don't stop to think that you're looking upset because you've had some fucking bad news, do they? No, they just draw attention to the fact that you're crying whilst walking to work, making you feel even shittier and fucked-up than you were before.

Shitty cnuts.

Apologies for the sweariness, a friend was killed in a climbing accident over the weekend. And yes, those chirpy fucking wankers were shouting at me this morning, as their van drove past. I hate them.

I also hate this chirpy nonsense
Just shout "It's already happened you insensitive twat"

Works everytime, with the added bonus that they never say it to anyone else ever again.

Sorry to hear about your friend though, I send psychic best wishes.

Commiserations
I've lost friends to climbing accidents before and its truly awful, especially when you think "There but for the grace of God go I...".

Deepest commiserations Bob. Blue skies forever.

Oh dear god
Nothing anyone can really say. Even the standard, I'm sorry for your loss, just doesn't really do it.

What a crap thing to happen. All the platitudes like 'they were doing something they loved', 'at least they didn't die of a long, lingering illness'...doesn't really make any difference, they're still gone.

*Virtual hugs and loads of positive thoughts*

Sorry to hear that Bob

aww, thanks my lovelies.
The thing is, she did die instantly, doing something she loved, but having fallen 1300 feet first (and I'd imagine that would have given her plenty of time to be scared). Absolutely terrible thing to happen, we're all in shock.

And yes, platitudes, no matter how kindly meant, never offer the slightest bit of comfort, to those giving or receiving them. It's just one of those things. But talking about it helps. I'm rambling now, sorry.

meh
Oh jeez I hear you. I've actually walked back to people that have said it on many a time and confronted them with a dozens reasons as to exactly why my face might be tripping me on that particular day. My face just looks naturally sour. It's none of their god-damn business anyway they don't know you and don't really care about you.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend.

A friend of mine
Always replies to people who say, "Cheer up, it may never happen," by saying, "It just has."

They usually look deflated and sad and walk off.

terrible news
would have been appropriate at that point to roar at them...

"actually it DID fucking happen, my friend was killed yesterday - any thing cheery in that you CUNT?"

but hindsight etc...

sorry for your tragic loss Bob
