School Projects
MostlySunny wibbles, "When I was 11 I got an A for my study of shark nets - mostly because I handed it in cut out in the shape of a shark."
Do people do projects that don't involve google-cut-paste any more? What fine tat have you glued together for teacher?

Here's another picture:
If you click 'I like this' I might even explain what it did and what the project was.
Any guesses?
Edit: Alex, I think you know what it is. You're not allowed to enter.

well, if your "repair" skill is high enough,
and if you find some micro-fusion cells, I'd say it was the mount for a combat shotgun trap.

A production line guillotine?
Ah I see it now. A little trolley moves along the central rail to position the reprobate ne'er do well bourgeoisie under the droppy bit.
Very clever and sensible. Keeps the nice executioner's fingers out of the way.

Well... Harrumph.
Excluded before I get to tell people my guess?
:(

Not you
But my lurker friend Alex T who saw me using it (I think).

Surprisingly, no.
I didn't get any splinters from it (in fact, most of the bits that stick out do so for a reason) but it caused me a hell of a lot of bother getting it to work.

I'm not sure.
But using hinges as L-brackets is both awesome and pikey-tacular at the same time.

Errr.....
Something for launching fireworks? Some form of catapult? A device for neutering pets?

Something
for launching projectiles of some kind.
If the two screws are supposed to stick up like that then it suggest some kind of mount points for a elastic band?
I'm sooooo bored I'm thinking too hard about this.

Well, there is what appears to be an elastic band
on the far left downwards peice of wood. And the frame halfway up might suggest it's there to guide whatever projectile it is launching

Yes, that is an elastic band
And the device does indeed launch something. My question is - what?

The device is...
A paper airplane launcher.
The airplane is held in the two pincers at the top right of the picture, which are held closed by a catch against the pull of two elastic bands (one on each side). The assemblage is drawn back along the test track then released at the end. It is propelled forwards by a powerful bungee cord (out of shot) until the catch is disengaged by the L shaped piece of wood. The pincers are pulled downwards by the elastic and the main assemblage is stopped by the two wooden blocks at the end of the track as the plane flies off into the clear blue yonder.
The rail passing between the pincers is to stop the device flying off the track under heavy acceleration.
And, before you ask, yes it did work.

The actual project was my final piece of A level Physics coursework
Which I did on which sort of airplane design flew best and why (using simple aerodynamic principles). I got fuck all in the way of worthwhile results and believe me when I say that however fun it sounds, spending five hours launching planes down a corridor is NOT fun. It is boring.
