I've just found out, thanks to the bunnie-boiler who flamed Kiss.Me.Where.I.Poo, that I've been labouring under a sexual misconception for years. Apparently, fucking someone else when you're involved in a relationship is actually called "relationship overlap" and not "you fucking lying, cheating scum" which is how I've always referred to it.

At the risk of being flamed...owch, ooh! I think you can have relationship overlap in a non-violent, non-lying scumdog way if it's pretty clear in the first place you're just dating. It's the norm where I'm from. You can't date in an established mongamous relationship, though. Once the rules have been agreed on, there's no breaking them without dishonor.
In fact, as long as you're up front, you can sleep with more than one person at a time without cheating. I've done that, but as soon as anything became in the least bit serious with one, I quit seeing the other guys.
