I was in Dixons a couple of weeks back pricing up tellies when I heard a salesguy pestering some old bloke into buying a warranty even though he didn't care. The salesguy came out of with all sorts of bollocks. If it breaks withing 12 months, then you can bring it back but you still have to bring it in yourself. If it breaks after 12 months, then you have to take it to the manufacturer.
I was going to go over and set him straight, but Mrs SLVA talked me out of it.

"According to the sale of goods act..." should be the correct response when told to go to the manufacturer for warranty claims*. I will admit I've fallen for this crap myself in the past so hope to spread the word.
