This is a question Waste of money

I once paid a small fortune to a solicitor in a legal case. She got lost on the way to court, turned up late with the wrong papers and started an argument with the judge, who told her to "shut up, for the love of God". A stunning investment.

Thanks to golddust for the suggestion

I bought a Wii
Not just a waste of money, but a waste of plastic that could've been better used to make something useful like a toilet roll holder or something.

i agree
apart from the bowling game

This isn't true!
Have you never played, "Guess what the neighbour's playing?", when you spot one standing in the middle of their lounge flapping their hands around and giggling like a happy mong?

Hurrah! I'm not alone!
My sister's kids have one, and I really don't get it. They get me to play and it just seems to be repeating the same action over and over again, generally very fast. If I want to do that then I'll simply have a wank.

My main issue with it
apart from it only having about two games I want to play, is (to paraphrase Zero Punctuation's explanation) that I play video games to relax, but find it difficult to relax while I'm waving my arms around like a pillock.

No
You can't do this with your sister's kids watching.

Unless you come from Norfolk...

In which case, your sister's kids may well be your own kids as well...

My kids too ...
Got one for their Christmas last year ( after listening to them whining on for months). They played with it for about 3 or 4 days and it's never seen the light of day since.

Mine wasn't a waste
Bought it a month after they were released, sold it a year later for exactly what I'd paid for it.

That's the good thing about a Wii
Unlike other consoles they hold their value pretty well, so you can sell them when you're bored and get back pretty much what you paid.

And they're not red-light-of-death (lots of my friends' Xbox 360s) or yellow-light-of-death (my brother's PS3) timebombs.

Not sure about that
I paid £170 or so for it just over a year ago and was told last week that the current trade-in value is about £50... cash value even less.

On a related note: the most use I've ever had out of the Wii was when the 360 was in for repair. Sounds like it's on the verge of death again so maybe I won't get rid of the little white box just yet.

Got one for the missus for Christmas
after about a month of Mariokart I don't think it's been touched since, except to use the iPlayer

^this
Mine's not been out of the box for well over 18mths.

Ahh, crap
Daughter no.2 wants one for Christmas... I'm not flush and it seems like an awful lot of money to throw away on a five-minute wonder.

Any of you lot care to recommend a more worthwhile console? I have no clue about these things.
