The winner doesn't always get a mention. I know because when the newsletter comes out, the first thing I do is search for my user name.

With the tendency to submit mini-essays, a lot of winning entries are too long.

it didn't get so much as a whisper in the newsletter.
I once had a line from a QotW story mentioned (it was the one about a Stoke shopkeeper complaining about hard-to-understand decimal currency in the early 1990s), but even then I wasn't credited.

I made the newsletter with my 'pretending to be in the Millenium Falcon' thing on the snow question when it only came about 10th that week, so who knows how that works.
